๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Military Junta Raids and Burns Down Nearly Entire Village in Yesagyo Township

April 24

In Magway Region’s Yesagyo Township, the village of Balaba was raided by junta forces and was almost entirely burned down during a two-day assault, according to the Information Committee of Yesagyo.

Troops from junta battalions 256, 257, and 258—along with approximately 150 personnel including pro-junta militia (Pyusawhti)—arrived in Kyu Village and Sin Kyo Village on April 20. They established encampments and began detaining innocent civilians as human shields, looting public property, and shelling surrounding villages with heavy artillery. As a result, residents from nearby villages fled their homes in fear.

On April 21, the junta forces launched heavy artillery attacks from Kyu Village toward Balaba Village and entered the village by force. They freely looted civilian property and set fire to homes for two consecutive days. The entire village was nearly consumed by flames, the committee reported.

Villages affected by the junta's ground operations include Kyu, Sin Kyo, Ywathit, Nyaung Pin, Kyaw Htin Kone, Ma Htee, Inma, Nga Myar Lay, Lay Yar Pyay, Sin Ma Yae, and Nga Phel. Locals from these villages were forced to flee and seek shelter elsewhere.

Moreover, due to junta airstrikes, residents from Hinthar, Ale Thone, Ale Kyo, and Zee Pin Kone villages have also been displaced and are currently in hiding.

On April 21, the junta conducted two airstrikes on Zee Pin Kone Village in the afternoon, followed by another airstrike that night. Ale Thone Village was also hit by an airstrike later that night. The Information Committee of Yesagyo said it is still verifying the extent of the damages, casualties, and injuries resulting from the attacks.

Additionally, at around 9:30 PM on April 23, junta aircraft carried out two bombing raids targeting the eastern part of Zee Pin Kone Village and the southern part of Sin Ma Yae Village. Initial reports confirmed that a woman from Sin Ma Yae Village was killed in the strike.

Currently, junta troops and Pyusawhti forces are shelling southern villages in Yesagyo Township with heavy artillery. They continue to raid communities, loot property, and cause terror through indiscriminate violence, the Information Committee stated.
