The Popa Guerrilla Force (PPGF) announced today, April 25, that armed clashes broke out during an attempted arrest of a People's Army leader in Minbu Township, Magway Region, as the detainees resisted and attempted to flee.
According to the PPGF statement, the targeted People's Army leader, Thaye Naing—under the command of Battalion 88 of the junta's Light Infantry Division—and a woman companion were intercepted while traveling in a vehicle. The arrest operation was conducted along a road in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Region.
PPGF stated that when the arrest team confronted the vehicle, Thaye Naing and the woman attempted to escape, prompting the forces to engage in an armed clearance operation at the scene.

Weapons and items seized from the operation included a car registered to junta officer Captain Min Wae, 79 rounds of carbine ammunition, a magazine, a hand grenade, one icon (likely referring to a radio or signal device), a knife, four mobile phones, an employee ID, insignia, and related materials.
PPGF further reported that two of their personnel sustained injuries during the resistance from Thaye Naing and the accompanying woman.
The same PPGF unit had previously arrested a Pyusawhti militia leader named Kyaw San Win (aka Ngar Chon) on March 10 in Tharyet Taw Village, Kyaukpadaung Township, according to their records.
