Radio NUG

The World Food Programme (WFP) announced on April 24 that it regularly monitors the distribution of humanitarian food aid and considers the resale of such items to be inappropriate. The organization stated that any confirmed incidents of reselling WFP-provided biscuits would result in immediate action.

The announcement follows reports circulating on social media about the alleged sale of WFP nutritional biscuits in Nay Pyi Taw. While WFP acknowledged being aware of these claims, it clarified that no concrete evidence has been found in connection with the online reports.

WFP emphasized that the distributed biscuits are not ordinary snacks, but specially formulated emergency food items designed for immediate consumption in crisis situations such as natural disasters.

These biscuits are enriched with essential nutrients including energy, protein, calcium, magnesium, iron, iodine, folic acid, and vitamins B1, B2, B6, and B12. The WFP specified that these biscuits are not suitable for infants under six months old, and should only be fed to children over six months who are already being breastfed, to ensure proper nutrition.

These news items were reported by Radio NUG correspondents Tharki and Khur Shel.
