๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Despite Li Shai's Ceasefire Announcement, SAC Troops Continue Offensives in Nyaung-U Township

Despite announcing a ceasefire, the junta launched offensives in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, the following morning, engaging in attacks and gunfire, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense (MOD).

On April 3, around 6:00 AM, junta forces advanced from Ngathayauk Police Station in Nyaung-U Township using two armored vehicles. Along the way, they fired at Myaythant Taung, Ma U Pin, and Kyauk-O villages using various weapons, including point-fired automatic rifles and other firearms.

Similarly, a 200-strong junta force advanced toward Kyauk Pyin Kan Village in Nyaung-U Township, setting fire to homes and destroying property, as reported by the People’s Democratic Army (PDA).

Additionally, the junta troops indiscriminately fired 60mm mortars and small arms from Kyauk Pyin Kan Village and deliberately set fire to shelters housing displaced civilians.

This marks the second time the junta troops have set fire to Kyauk Pyin Kan Village. Previously, they looted and destroyed civilian properties worth nearly 500 million kyats before transporting them away.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Junta Deceitfully Claims Ceasefire While Launching Airstrikes in Tabayin, Kani, Homalin, and Taungtha Townships

At 12:40 PM on April 3, the junta conducted two airstrikes near Seven Mile Village in Tabayin Township, Mandalay Region, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG).

Additionally, two paramotors from the Northwestern Military Command (Na Ma Kha) launched bomb attacks on Muthtaw and Natgyi villages in Kani Township, Sagaing Region, at 12:22 PM, 12:35 PM, 12:36 PM, 12:37 PM, and 12:52 PM on April 3. They also opened fire on Taung Pyauk Village with machine guns.

Similarly, an MI-2 multipurpose attack helicopter from the Homalin Air Base carried out aerial bombardments at 9:30 AM on April 3 in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, targeting Phanai, San Sai, Pehno Swat, and areas near Shwe Maw without any active military engagement on the ground. A total of 13 bombs were dropped.

On April 2, around 2:00 AM, the junta also carried out an attack on Thay Taw Village in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, deploying three paramotors and dropping eight 120mm bombs. The attack damaged Thay Taw Village’s eastern areas, including Taungtha, Kyauk Pan Taung Road, and a middle school located near the flooded plain, as well as residential buildings.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Junta Continues Offensives and Gunfire in Sagaing and Magway Regions

Despite announcing a nationwide ceasefire, the junta continues to carry out military offensives and attacks in Salin and Yinmarbin townships in Sagaing Region, and Salin Township in Magway Region.

On April 2, during the night, junta forces, consisting of approximately 130 soldiers, launched a two-pronged offensive targeting villages near a Chinese-owned copper mining project in Salin and Yinmarbin townships.

The attack forced over 10,000 civilians from Dongtaw, Gontaw, and Ywarthar villages in Salin Township, as well as Kyauksa, Bainen Chaung, and Peh Kon villages in Yinmarbin Township, to flee for safety, according to the Chindwin Defense Joint Forces.

Similarly, in Salin Township, Magway Region, junta troops advanced along the Sin Phyu Kyun – Tanyoung Road and continued their offensive toward Kan Pyar Village on the morning of April 3.

As the military offensive involved direct engagements within villages and heavy artillery shelling, locals from surrounding villages were forced to flee.

On March 28, following the devastating earthquake that caused numerous casualties, the NUG government announced a two-week suspension of its offensive operations to facilitate humanitarian and rescue efforts.

Conversely, the junta declared a three-week ceasefire on April 2, yet as of today, they have not adhered to their declaration. Instead, they have continued ground offensives, artillery shelling, and aerial bombardments across various regions.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. PNO/PNA's Forest Fire Spread Destroys 24 Civilian Homes in Two Villages

On the afternoon of March 31, a forest fire started by PNO/PNA forces in the areas of Saung Pyone and Naung Woo spread uncontrollably to nearby Thaung Mae Thin and Lone Pyin villages. As a result, approximately 20 civilian homes in Thaung Mae Thin and four homes in Lone Pyin were consumed by the fire, according to a statement released by the Pa-O National Defense Force – Khan Kaung (PNDF-KK).

Allied forces, including PNDF-KK and the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), worked together to contain the spreading fire and mitigate further damage.

Reports indicate that PNO/PNA has been continuously launching attacks towards Thaung Mae Thin and Lone Pyin villages using heavy artillery and suicide drones, despite the absence of ongoing clashes.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Military Council Arbitrarily Torches Civilian Homes in Bawlakhe Township

The Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) has reported that Myanmar’s Military Council forces set fire to civilian homes in Bawlakhe Township without provocation.

On March 31, troops stationed at the Bawlakhe police station, under the Military Council’s command, deliberately burned down homes in Nyaung Zin and Shwe Pyi Thar wards, despite the absence of any armed conflict in the area.

By the night of April 1, the fires were still raging, with at least six civilian homes completely destroyed.

There have been no active battles in Bawlakhe Township for an extended period. However, local sources report that Military Council troops and their affiliates have been engaging in looting, breaking into civilian properties, and setting fire to homes without legal justification.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. People’s Democratic Organization/Army Marks Its Fourth Anniversary

The People’s Democratic Organization/Army (PDO/PDA) successfully held its fourth-anniversary commemoration in various military zones under its control.

The celebration, held on April 1, included a flag-raising ceremony, an oath-taking event, speeches marking the milestone, and the reading of congratulatory messages from the Central Committee and Headquarters.

Additionally, in PDO/PDA’s Second Military Zone, community leaders, village security forces, and local civilians delivered speeches, while tributes were paid to fallen comrades who had made sacrifices on the front lines.

During the evening, the event continued with a screening of commemorative videos about the People’s Democratic Organization/Army, aimed at engaging and inspiring the local civilian population.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. Taung Nyo Battalion Celebrates Its Third Anniversary with Awards Ceremony

The Taung Nyo Column has announced that the third-anniversary celebration of Taung Nyo Battalion, along with an awards ceremony, was held on April 1.

During the event, commendations were presented to disciplined and dedicated soldiers. A review of the battalion’s three-year journey, including key battles fought and challenges faced, was shared, followed by motivational speeches from battalion leaders. The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of their motto: “We, Taung Nyo, will never fall.”

Over the past three years, Taung Nyo Battalion has engaged in at least 67 battles, resulting in the deaths of 258 enemy combatants, injuries to 233, and the destruction of 29 military vehicles.

The battalion has also suffered losses, with six soldiers killed in action.
