๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. NUG Engages in Coordination to Uncover the Truth Behind Killing of 10 PDF Members by Indian Assam Rifles
May 19
Radio NUG
The National Unity Government (NUG) is currently coordinating efforts to uncover the full truth behind the killing of 10 members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Tamu District, allegedly carried out by the Assam Rifles under the Indian military, near the India–Myanmar border.
According to reports, on the morning of May 14, the Assam Rifles detained PDF fighters who were stationed on the Myanmar side of the Asia Highway between Kam Ma Gyi and Htan Zin villages in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, conducting border security operations.
While the Indian military claimed that the incident occurred following a three-hour clash with armed individuals who had crossed into Indian territory, local residents, PDF sources, and those close to the matter have alleged that the fighters were captured first and then tortured and executed.
When responsible parties requested the return of the bodies on May 14, the Assam Rifles initially claimed that the deceased had died in combat. However, the bodies were not returned until May 16.
A source close to the PDF stated that the bodies bore signs of heavy blunt-force trauma and stab wounds.
At around 10:00 AM on May 16, the Assam Rifles transported the bodies to a cemetery within Myanmar territory. According to the Indian Army’s official statement, the clash occurred during a military operation targeting armed groups reportedly active near New Samtal village in Chandel District, Manipur State. The statement also claimed that the Indian military recovered seven AK-47 rifles, one RPG launcher, one M4 rifle, four single-shot rifles, and several rounds of ammunition and explosives.
A representative of the India For Myanmar organization told DVB:
“This is an extremely disturbing incident. While it’s true that PDF members were armed, there’s credible information that they did not engage in any resistance and were instead captured without a fight and then executed. If this is the true sequence of events, India bears full responsibility and accountability. Moreover, unless the matter is resolved appropriately, the Indian military’s international reputation could be seriously damaged.”
NUG spokesperson U Nay Phone Latt confirmed the incident’s authenticity but stated that the NUG is not yet in a position to release a public statement. He added that the NUG is continuing its engagement with Indian authorities and will issue a statement in due course.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Daw Zin Mar Aung also remarked:
“Regarding the killing of 10 PDF members near Tamu Township, along the India–Myanmar border, responsible officials from the NUG are currently following up on submitted reports and initial field findings. In addition, discussions are underway with Indian authorities to ensure the truth comes to light.”

May 19
Radio NUG
At 7:20 AM on May 19, 2025, five 107mm short-range rockets were fired at the Myanmar Army’s Artillery Training School located in Bawaryin Naung Garrison, Than Taung Township, according to a report by BWM (Burma Weapons Movement).
Of the five rockets launched, four successfully struck their intended target.
The targeted artillery training school serves as an institution for promoting junior officers within the Myanmar military (referred to by the resistance as the “defeated junta’s forces”). These officers, deemed to be loyal enforcers of the regime, undergo indoctrination and are then deployed to continue the oppression of civilians.
The strike was reportedly intended to disrupt the training of these military personnel who would otherwise continue to contribute to brutal campaigns against the civilian population through various repressive tactics.
