πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 1. CRPH Urges Continued Collective Efforts to Establish a Future Federal Democratic State Free from Injustice

The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) has urged the people to continue working together to build a future Federal Democratic State that is firmly rooted in justice and free from all forms of wrongdoing and oppression.

This message was delivered as part of CRPH’s statement commemorating the Full Moon Day of Kason, which marks the 2,569th Buddha Day in the Buddhist calendar.

In its message, CRPH extended heartfelt Metta (loving-kindness) and good wishes, praying that all Buddhists across Myanmar and around the world, along with people of other faiths and ethnic groups, may be safe, healthy, surrounded by good deeds, and blessed with abundant merit and wholesome benefits.

The Full Moon Day of Kason is a sacred occasion in Buddhism, as it marks the convergence of the three major events in the life of the Buddha: the receipt of the great prophecy (Vyakarana) in his previous life as the hermit Sumedha, his birth as Prince Siddhartha, his attainment of Supreme Enlightenment, and his final passing into Parinibbana. Because these profound events all took place on this very day, devout Buddhists across Myanmar and beyond traditionally regard the day with utmost reverence and engage in meritorious deeds with sincere devotion.

The message further notes that the Buddha, through his own diligent practice of the Four Noble Truths, came to realize the righteous path. He compassionately taught these noble teachings to all sentient beings—without discrimination between low, medium, or high capacities—with boundless loving-kindness and compassion. Having set his own unwavering goal of reaching Nibbana, the Buddha strove with tireless effort, unshakable determination, and exceptional diligence until he successfully reached liberation. This noble example, CRPH emphasized, serves as timeless guidance for humanity.

The message also highlighted that United Nations Secretary-General AntΓ³nio Guterres has issued a call, on this very Kason Full Moon Day of May 11, urging people to value and follow the Buddha’s teachings. He emphasized the importance of embracing the Buddha’s messages of compassion, forbearance, and selfless action—core values that resonate deeply with the principles of the United Nations.

πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 2. UN Secretary-General Calls on All to Uphold the Buddha’s Teachings of Compassion and Unity

On the sacred Full Moon Day of Kason—commemorated this year on May 11—UN Secretary-General AntΓ³nio Guterres has called on the world to honor and follow the Buddha’s teachings of wisdom and compassion.

In his message marking this holy day for Buddhists worldwide, the UN Secretary-General extended his best wishes, expressing hope that this day—which commemorates the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing into Parinibbana—would be a meaningful and auspicious one for all followers of the Buddha across the globe.

He emphasized that the Buddha’s final messages—compassion, perfection of patience (Khanti Paramita), and selfless service—are in deep harmony with the values of the United Nations. Despite the many challenges facing the world today, he stressed that these timeless teachings can serve as a guiding light on the path ahead.

The Secretary-General further encouraged people to transcend divisions, foster greater unity, and collectively work towards a more peaceful, harmonious, and sustainable world. He called for inclusive cooperation on this sacred day to help build a future grounded in peace and resilience.

However, despite the UN Secretary-General’s timely call to honor the Buddha’s path of peace and nonviolence, reports from the ground and military sources revealed that the military junta led by Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing continued its violent campaign by launching aerial bombings against civilians even on this sacred Buddhist holiday.

πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 3. KNLA Reiterates Call for SAC Troops to Defect and Abandon Generals' Self-Serving Interests

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) has once again urged members of the State Administration Council (SAC) military to defect, stating that they are currently serving only to protect the self-serving interests of a handful of top military generals who wield all the power.

While the KNU/KNLA frequently issues public appeals for defection, it reiterated this call again on May 10, emphasizing that SAC troops are essentially sacrificing their lives for the personal gain of a few senior generals.

As part of the renewed appeal, the KNLA released photographs documenting recent defections by police officers who surrendered to the KNLA during Operation Aung Zeya.

The KNLA further encouraged SAC personnel to surrender in a peaceful manner—by approaching frontline KNLA units individually or in groups, with their rifles disarmed and slung across their backs and the barrels pointing downward.

It reiterated that soldiers and local militia members currently involved in Operation Aung Zeya, who are risking their lives for the interests of the junta’s senior generals, can choose to surrender and be granted protection in accordance with international legal standards if they defect to the KNLA. Contact numbers for surrender were also provided.

For SAC troops who wish to surrender rather than continue forced deployment in combat operations along the Asia Highway, a contact number—09 449132679—was provided for coordination.

The call for defection comes at a time when joint resistance forces—comprising the KNU/KNLA and People's Defense Forces (PDFs)—are actively attacking and seizing one SAC outpost after another across the Myanmar–Thailand border, including junta positions in the territories of KNU Brigades 3, 4, 6, and 7.

πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 4. No Longer the Time to Just Read About Bomb Shelters—Now Is the Time to Dig Them, Warns Ayartaw People's Defense Team

The Ayartaw Township People’s Defense Group has issued a public warning today, May 11, stating that the current situation has passed the point of simply reading up on how to build bomb shelters. It is now time for civilians to take action by physically digging shelters, holding shovels in hand to protect their own lives and the lives of their families.

The advisory comes in response to daily airstrikes launched by the junta, specifically targeting civilian populations in the region.

The Ayartaw defense team has urged every household to begin building bomb shelters without delay.

However, it was noted that some individuals still mock or look down on people digging shelters or rushing into them upon hearing aircraft sounds—treating them as cowards or alarmists.

In response, the group strongly emphasized that once the sound of jets or explosions is heard, it is already too late—people should already be underground by then to have any chance at survival.

The Ayartaw PDF further stated that every citizen’s effort to protect themselves to the best of their ability is in itself a vital form of support for the revolution.

Accordingly, the group called on civilians to collaborate with local administrative bodies and defense teams in establishing early warning systems and enhancing community readiness for aerial threats.
