๐๐ 4. WHO Scales Up Preventive Health Measures in Myanmar Amidst Monsoon-Season Risks
June 12
Radio NUG
Following the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar in March 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) swiftly deployed life-saving health assistance through its Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE), according to a June 12 statement from WHO Myanmar.
As the monsoon season begins, WHO is scaling up preventive health operations across Myanmar to address seasonal health risks. To mitigate the spread of waterborne diseases in displacement camps, the organization is distributing water filters, mosquito nets, and other disease-prevention supplies and equipment to people living in temporary shelters.
Mental health support is also being expanded. Over 450 healthcare workers have been trained, enabling the delivery of mental health and psychosocial support services to thousands of individuals.
"Thanks to the CFE, we have been able to respond quickly during critical moments," said Dr. Thushara Fernando, WHO Representative to Myanmar.
With the support of the CFE, thousands of people in earthquake-affected regions have gained access to essential healthcare services and are now receiving assistance aimed at restoring hope and supporting recovery efforts.

๐๐ 5. Pyusawhti-Linked Youth Perpetrate Violent Acts in Mandalay
June 12
Radio NUG
Youths affiliated with the Pyusawhti militia—a paramilitary group backed and cultivated by the military junta—are reportedly engaging in rampant violence and intimidation in Mandalay, according to local sources.
A disturbing video circulated on social media shows a group of Pyusawhti-aligned youths physically assaulting and verbally abusing other young individuals near the Chinese temple area at 80th Street and 32nd Street in downtown Mandalay. The exact timing of the incident is not yet known.
The video reveals a group of junta-linked thugs slapping faces, kicking with their legs, and beating with shoes while threatening the victims by shouting, "We’ll throw all of you into military interrogation!"
The footage has provoked public outrage, with residents now seeking to identify the perpetrators and sharing inquiries about their names and addresses across community channels.
Since the military coup, junta-loyal ward administrators have been distributing firearms to these Pyusawhti militias, formally appointing them as local militia leaders and enabling the formation of armed groups under their command.
According to local residents, these Pyusawhti members now roam the streets with weapons, demand extortion money, abduct people, carry out armed robberies, and commit acts of violent repression against civilians.

๐๐ 6. Commemorative Protest March in South Korea on Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 80th Birthday
June 12
Radio NUG
The Committee Against the Military Coup (South Korea) has announced that a protest march and demonstration will be held in South Korea to commemorate the 80th birthday of Myanmar’s democracy leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and to call for an end to the military dictatorship and the release of all political prisoners.
"To imprison a leader is to imprison everyone who supports her. Marking the 80th birthday of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who remains unjustly detained by the violent military regime, is an act of remembrance that also exposes the junta’s illegitimate oppression of the entire nation," the committee stated.
The demonstration is scheduled to take place on June 15, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, beginning at Bosingak Park near Jonggak Station in Seoul. The event will include a 40-minute march.

๐๐ 7. Public Urged to Join Flower Strike and Blue Shirt Campaign in Honor of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 80th Birthday
June 12
Radio NUG
To commemorate the 80th birthday of public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, revolutionary forces are calling on the public to participate in two major civil disobedience movements: the Flower Strike and the Blue Shirt Campaign.
The aim is to both honor her birthday and demand the unconditional and immediate release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all other political prisoners, while rejecting the junta’s sham election process.
The first movement, the “Flower Strike,” is already widely recognized in connection with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s birthday. Citizens are encouraged to pay tribute using accessible flowers—such as red roses—by:
- Offering them at religious sites,
- Wearing them reverently in their hair,
- Arranging floral displays at home,
- Exchanging flower gifts,
- Posting tributes online, and
- Participating in public flower strikes with full awareness of safety and security measures.
The second movement, the Blue Shirt Campaign, builds on an established public initiative in support of political prisoners. Participants are urged to wear blue clothing and accessories—including blue shirts, longyis, trousers, or headscarves—to show solidarity with those unjustly detained.
Given that this year marks Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s 80th birthday, both movements are being coordinated as an eight-day campaign, running from June 14 to June 21. Participants may choose any convenient day within this period, or take part daily if possible.
These updates were reported by Radio NUG correspondents Tharki, Min Sitt Thway, and Khur Shel.
