🚩🚩 1. Ministry of Defense of the NUG Holds Senior Commanders’ Meeting; 10 Regional Commands Formed and Actively Leading Battalions in Combat

The Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced that the People’s Defense Force (PDF) Senior Commanders’ Meeting (1/2025) was successfully held on August 23–25, 2025.

The meeting was chaired by the Commander-in-Chief, with participation from the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, other senior staff of the Central Command, the Commander of Military Region No. 1, senior commanders of the PDF, regional commanders and deputy regional commanders of the 10 Regional Commands, as well as senior officials of the Ministry of Defense.

The meeting was held with the aim of ensuring continued military victories in the People’s Resistance War, building the PDF and allied defense forces into a disciplined, systematically organized, and command-driven military institution, and ultimately defeating the terrorist junta.

At present, under the Central Command of the PDF, 10 Regional Commands have been formed and are actively coordinating battalions and units in combat. These are:

  • Sagaing Regional Command
  • Mandalay Regional Command
  • Magway Regional Command
  • Southern Shan–Karenni (Kayah) Regional Command
  • Naypyitaw Regional Command
  • Bago Regional Command
  • Yangon Regional Command
  • Ayeyarwady Regional Command
  • Tanintharyi Regional Command
  • Special Regional Command

During the meeting, commanders presented operational review papers by region, held discussions on the current revolutionary situation, and set forward plans for the PDF’s next steps.

🚩🚩 2. Attack on Southern Regional Military Headquarters Leaves 2 Junta Officers and 4 Soldiers Dead

According to a statement by Black Warrior for Myanmar (BWM), an attack on the Southern Regional Military Headquarters of the junta, based in Taungoo, resulted in the deaths of 2 officers and 4 soldiers.

On August 26, BWM led the operation together with the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), the Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and 2 battalions of KNLA Brigade 2, firing 9 short-range 107 mm rockets at the junta’s Southern Regional Command headquarters.

Reports indicate that in the course of the attack, 2 officers and 4 other soldiers were killed, while 4 more were injured.

Additionally, one officer’s residence was hit and burned down, and part of a bachelor officers’ quarters building was destroyed by fire.

🚩🚩 3. Bhamo Clashes: Battalion Commander Colonel Khant Htet Naung and Many Junta Soldiers Killed

In Bhamo, Kachin State, during urban assault operations by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied resistance forces, junta forces suffered heavy casualties, including the death of Colonel Khant Htet Naung, the commander of Infantry Battalion 319, along with many soldiers, according to KIA military sources.

On August 25, during the battle, a drone strike by resistance forces dropped bombs that killed Colonel Khant Htet Naung, who was a graduate of the 61st intake of the Defense Services Academy. He was originally from Bhamo and had only been reassigned to the area about two months ago.

Intense clashes took place in Bhamo on August 24 and 25, resulting in heavy junta casualties. At present, bodies of junta soldiers are reportedly being gathered near the junta’s Bhamo Regional Command headquarters (No. 21). Resistance forces also seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition.

🚩🚩 4. Junta Column Burns Down 51 Civilian Houses and Kills 2 Civilians in Tharyar Chaung

According to a joint statement from PDF Dawei District Battalion 2 (P23302) and the Karen National Union (KNU), a junta military column burned down 51 civilian houses and killed two civilians in Tharyar Chaung Township, Tanintharyi Region.

From August 12 to 25, during a 14-day offensive, the junta column carried out arson attacks on Utttu, Sawphya, and Moeshwe Gon villages, Battalion 2 of Dawei District reported.

As a result of these arson attacks, 1 house in Utttu, 35 houses in Sawphya, and 15 houses in Moeshwe Gon—a total of 51 civilian homes—were destroyed by fire.

The KNU also reported that during this operation, junta soldiers brutally executed 2 civilians from Moeshwe Gon village.

Furthermore, the junta troops looted 20 houses in Utttu and ransacked all homes and shops in Sawphya and Moeshwe Gon villages, stealing gold, money, and other valuables.

In addition, indiscriminate shelling by junta forces damaged another 10 houses in Sawphya and Moeshwe Gon villages.

🚩🚩 5. Soldier from Infantry Battalion 591 Defects to YGF with Weapon

A soldier from the junta’s Infantry Battalion 591, stationed at Sanpya Village, Kyaung Ywa, Ye Township, Mon State, defected to the Ye Guerrilla Force (YGF) with his weapon, according to YGF’s announcement.

On August 28, the soldier, identified as S. Aung Phyo Thant, left his unit and surrendered with one MA-4 rifle, 25 rounds of ammunition, and 2 magazines.

It was reported that he had graduated from Military Training Course No. 9 but had been forcibly conscripted while staying overnight at a vehicle gate checkpoint, making him one of the junta’s recently recruited soldiers.

He was warmly welcomed by Strategy 33, Daung Column 2, and YGF Column Commander Captain Kyarnit, who encouraged other junta soldiers still serving to defect to the people’s side in time.
