The Political Prisoners’ Network has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the worsening trend of political prisoners being re-arrested under fabricated and violent charges after their release from prisons across Myanmar this year.

According to the statement, junta security forces have deliberately obstructed the release of political prisoners by re-arresting them right at the prison gates or by pressing additional, unrelated charges just before their scheduled release dates.

Such actions constitute a blatant violation of Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which explicitly states that “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention, or exile.”

The statement further emphasized that the Network will continue to cooperate with human rights defenders and relevant organizations to monitor, investigate, and expose these unlawful arrests, while calling for an end to arbitrary detentions and for the unconditional release of all remaining political prisoners across Myanmar.

As armed clashes have recently intensified in Naung Mon Township, Hsenni District, Special Region (1), the MNDAA (Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army) Supply Department provided emergency humanitarian aid to newly arriving internally displaced persons (IDPs), according to an official statement from the MNDAA.

The Naung Mon Township Administration Committee has reportedly arranged suitable accommodations for the displaced civilians.

Between October 10 and 11, a team led by Lt. Col. Mr. Yang Fu Rong, Deputy Head of the MNDAA Supply Department, together with Deputy Commander Mr. Li Guo Shan, health workers, and other officials, visited the IDP camps to distribute essential household items and medicines. Administrative officials led by Mr. Han Jia Hua, Deputy Secretary of Hsenni District, also took part in the operations.

During the aid distribution, the team encouraged the displaced civilians to remain strong and reassured them that the Special Region would continue to serve as a refuge and source of support.

Approximately 620 displaced families, totaling over 2,000 people, received 201 bags of rice, 630 packets of salt, and five containers of cooking oil, while over 370 individuals received free medical checkups and treatments.

As of October 11, nearly 5,000 war-displaced civilians had entered the Special Region.

The event, held on October 12, symbolized a message to the world about the Myanmar military’s unlawful seizure of power and served to honor fallen heroes Ko Zeyar Thaw and Ko Jimmy. It also aimed to draw international attention to the deteriorating health and unjust imprisonment of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and to commemorate her resilience and sacrifices.
