📌📌 1. NLD announces that anyone who cooperates in the sham election of the military council will be considered as an abettor of treason
The National League for Democracy (NLD) party released a statement on the election to be held by the military council. The statement said:
“The National League for Democracy (NLD) will continuously and strongly oppose the sham election since any act of the military council that breaches existing laws and commits treason is illegitimate. Any individual or organisation that cooperates with the military council will also be considered an abettor of treason.”
The NLD also stated in the statement that the military council is ignoring the fact that the country’s economy, education, and health care sectors are in serious decline and the people are in dire straits during the period they have seized power by force and are attempting to gain political legitimacy by holding a sham election in order to maintain their power.

📌📌 2. NUG’s Union Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung congratulates General Pavel for winning the Czech Republic’s presidential election
NUG Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung posted on Twitter on January 29 her congratulations to retired general Petr Pavel, who won the Czech Republic’s presidential election, as follows:
“My sincere congratulations to General Pavel for his victory in the presidential elections of the Czech Republic. People of Myanmar appreciate support we always received from the Czech Republic. We hope that you will have a place for Myanmar in your presidential agenda as late President Havel always did.”
Retired general Petr Pavel won comfortably against former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis in the race for president on Saturday (January 28).

U Soe Thura Tun, Union Minister of Electricity and Energy, stated on his social media page that upfront investment in NUG’s Mogok gem blocks is more than just a financial benefit, as follows:
“Upfront investment in NUG’s Mogok gem blocks is more than just a financial benefit; it is about standing up for justice for the Mogok region and Myanmar, reclaiming the country’s resources from the terrorist military and its associates, and restoring peace and democracy for the 55 million citizens of Myanmar.”
The National Unity Government introduced 45 Mogok Gem Mining Rights on January 29, and detailed information is provided on its Early Partnership Program website.

📌📌 5. NUG’s Deputy Minister U Maw Htun Aung says that the country’s education sector is being reformed by the Civil Disobedience Movements and the impact is great
In the last week of January, U Maw Htun Aung, Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, said the following about the Civil Disobedience Movements:
“If I were asked whether students participating in the Civil Disobedience Movements (CDM) are doing a good job, I would answer that it is good and noble because they are doing their best to improve the country’s system by making their own decisions in the common interest without even thinking about their own path. By participating in CDM, we are reforming the education system, and the impact is also great. New institutions and changes in the way of thinking about science are among the greatest things.”
Following the military’s seizure of power on February 1, 2021, many teachers, students, and government educational staff participated in the anti-military civil disobedience movements.

📌📌 6. Local defence forces in Nyaung Lay Pin and Kyauk Tadar Townships launched an attack with an M79 grenade launcher at the junta’s 264th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB-264) based in Pein Za Loke as part of Operation Nan Htike Aung
Bago Region Military Command announced the military news on January 29 as:
“On January 28, at around 3:30 p.m., the Township People’s Defence Forces (PaKaHpa) of Nyaung Lay Pin and Kyauk Tadar joined forces to attack the 264th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB-264) based in Pein Za Loke with an M79 grenade launcher as part of Operation Nan Htike Aung. In the attack, after the revolutionary forces fired one shot, the the military council troops returned fire with small arms from inside the base, but the revolutionary forces were able to retreat safely.”
The damage inside the junta’s infantry battalion is reportedly still under investigation.
The local defence forces also fired an M79 grenade launcher into the LIB-264 on January 10, resulting in the death of one of the junta’s soldiers and damaging the building.

📌📌 7. Local defence forces in Myaing Township launched a mine attack on military forces coming out of Thayet Kan (the village dominated by Pyu Saw Htee militia) village in the southern part of Myaing Township, killing two military personnel and a junta-appointed village administrator
Myaing Unground Defence Force (MUGDF) released military news on January 29 as follows:
“On January 28, at about 4:30 p.m., we planted mines near Thayet Kan (the village dominated by Pyu Saw Htee militia) village in the southern part of Myaing Township before firing small arms to lure military council troops inside the village. As a result, about 20 military troops came out and fired large and small weapons. One lieutenant, one sergeant, and the junta-appointed village administrator, namely Win Chein, were killed when they stepped on a mine.”
According to the MUGDF, another six members of the junta troops were also hit by landmines and seriously injured.
The attack was reportedly carried out jointly by the Myaing Unground Defence Force (MUGDF), the 4th Squadron of the 1st Battalion of the Myaing Township People’s Defence Force, the Storm People’s Defence Force, the TYK Guerrilla Force, and the People’s Vigor (Pyi Thu Arr Mann).

📌📌 8. On the eve of the second anniversary of the Myanmar Spring Revolution, a rally was held in New York City and pots and pans were banging
A rally to mark the second anniversary of the Myanmar people’s struggle and the Spring Revolution was held on the eve of the second anniversary, January 28, at Time Square, a landmark in New York City, while banging pots and pans.
The rally was organised by the New York City Burmese Community (NYCBC) and held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., New York time, on Saturday.
A large number of Myanmar citizens from New York attended the rally, chanting slogans such as “The Pans… the beginning of the revolution… Let’s drive out the demons!” while banging pots and pans.
