Reports from locals reveal that SAC troops are continuing to forcibly recruit young people for military service in Yangon, Mandalay, and other townships.

Beginning in early December, administrative officers in all townships across Yangon have been instructed to enlist all individuals aged 18 to 35 for military service. Those attempting to evade conscription face the threat of being apprehended at their homes, streets, or neighborhoods.

On the night of December 13, SAC troops and police conducted a raid in Thaketa Township, Ward 8, using civilian vehicles to patrol and detain youth. At least four individuals were arrested. Two young men from Street 7 in Ward 8 were also taken away during the operation.

Similarly, on the night of December 14, the military, along with local administrative groups, detained no fewer than seven individuals in North Dagon and South Dagon Townships during door-to-door checks under the pretense of conducting guest list inspections. Earlier, on December 11, around 5:00 AM, 11 men from Kyauk Pyin Kan and Kyauk U villages in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, were forcibly detained for military recruitment. Four of them were later released, but reports indicate that the others were taken from their homes in a practice referred to as "porter dragging."
