๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. PSLF/TNLA Officer Training Course: Graduation of Batch 4 and Opening of Batch 5

The Pa Laung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) held the graduation ceremony of Batch 4 and the opening ceremony of Batch 5 of the Officer Training Course (Ta’ang Army Officer Training - TAOT) at a location within Ta’ang territory under TNLA control. The event took place on December 15 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, according to the organization's statement.

The ceremony featured speeches from PSLF/TNLA Chairman General Tar Aik Bong and General Secretary General Tar Bone Kyaw. Additionally, due to military-related duties, Commander-in-Chief General Tar Hoh Plann could not attend the ceremony but sent a message. Outstanding trainees were awarded prizes for excellence in various fields, including academics, military performance, and overall achievements.

Batch 4 lasted 18 months and trained 132 officers. During the program, the trainees participated in Operations 1027 Phase 2, during which 12 officers lost their lives in combat. As a result, 114 trainees successfully graduated, and Batch 5 commenced with 135 newly enrolled officer trainees.

The ceremony was attended by PSLF/TNLA Chairman General Tar Aik Bong, General Secretary General Tar Bone Kyaw, Chief of Military Affairs Tar Naw Ryun, department officials, officers, villagers, and trainees, with over 700 participants in total.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Two Civilians Killed Due to Junta’s Violent Actions in Hpa-An District

The Karen National Union (KNU) reported that violent actions by the military junta in Kawthoolei territory resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to five others.

On December 17, at around 10:23 AM, junta troops stationed at Nat Than Kwin fired a 122mm mortar shell that exploded in Thukabee Village. The attack killed two displaced persons from Naungkone Village, Saw Pho Myint and Naw Thol Wi Htoo, and injured two women, Naw Elsay and Naw Ngwe Kyi.

Later, at 1:27 PM and 1:50 PM, another mortar attack by Battalion 264 from the Penzalup base targeted Katoseik Village near Leinpinwai, causing additional damage. Earlier, on December 15 at around 2:30 PM, the same battalion fired seven 122mm mortars into Daku Lar and Lawmu Thaw villages, injuring Daw Khin Htay and Daw Ma Nyi in Daku Lar.

In a related incident in Hsaw Htee Township, on December 14 at around 10:40 AM, fighter jets from Taungoo Air Force Base dropped two 500-pound bombs on an old section of Da Gaung Gyi Village. Later that evening, at 4:00 PM, Battalion 57 launched a 60mm mortar attack on Sanphe Village, injuring a local villager, Aung Khaet Kyaw. On December 15 at 6:40 AM, Battalion 264 fired a 120mm mortar shell near Oopala Village, further exacerbating the situation.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Civilian Killed and Four Injured by Junta Artillery Fire in Pauktaw

In Pauktaw Township, Rakhine State, a civilian was killed and four others injured after an artillery shell fired by the junta forces exploded, according to the Arakan Press Media (APM).

On the night of December 17, at around 11:00 PM, junta forces stationed in Sittwe launched artillery shells into Padaetha Village, Pauktaw Township. The explosion killed U Maung Yin Thar, a 58-year-old displaced villager from Kyantaw, and injured four women: Daw Ma Thain Nu, Daw Thain Nu, Ma Phu Ma Chay from Padaetha Village, and another woman visiting from Kyaukpyu.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Eleven Junta Soldiers Killed in Clashes Near Man Kyi Kone Village, Kanbalu Township

On December 16 at 6:20 AM, a clash erupted between the military junta troops, accompanied by Pyu Saw Htee militia, and local resistance forces near Man Kyi Kone Village, Kanbalu Township. The junta troops, originating from Kukko Kone Village in Kyuun Hla Township, sustained 11 fatalities, and several weapons were seized, according to the Kanbalu District Resistance Forces.

The battle lasted nearly the entire day. By noon, the junta called for air support, and two jet fighters carried out bombings at 12:05 PM and 12:12 PM near the battlefield. Junta troops reportedly evacuated their casualties using three vehicles to the 100-Bed Hospital in Kanbalu for treatment.

The resistance forces seized nine firearms and ammunition during the battle. However, they lost two drones and reported non-critical injuries among four of their fighters.

Following the clash, the junta buried their deceased soldiers, including Pyu Saw Htee militia members, at Kanbalu Cemetery on December 18. Public access to the burial site was restricted, and a bunker and gate were constructed near the cemetery for security. Reports indicated that among the deceased militia members were individuals from Nat Pate Village, Thangman Taw Village, and unidentified remains.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Two Killed in Mine Explosion Attack on Military Council Troops in Chaung-U

In Chaung-U Township, Monywa District, Sagaing Region, two members of the Military Council's troops were killed in a mine attack involving two explosive devices, according to the BLDF (A Nya Mine) Division.

The incident occurred on December 17 at around 7:00 PM, on a road in Chaung-U Town. The People's Defense Forces (PDF) from Chaung-U Township, in collaboration with the Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF), carried out the attack using two mines, as confirmed by the BLDF (A Nya Mine) Division.

During the attack, two soldiers from the Military Council's troops died, and those injured were taken back to their battalion by a military vehicle, according to a local eyewitness.

Following the incident, reinforcements were deployed to the Military Council’s base, where additional positions were established in three separate locations. Soldiers were reportedly conducting defensive patrols while sporadically firing small arms.

The People's Defense Forces that conducted the operation were able to retreat without any casualties.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. 45 Clashes in Papun District Within 15 Days, Resulting in 11 Deaths and 8 Injuries Among Military Council Troops

Between December 1 and December 15, 2024, a total of 45 clashes took place in Papun District between the Military Council’s forces and joint revolutionary forces led by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA). According to a statement by the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Committee, 11 Military Council troops were killed, and approximately 8 others were injured during these encounters.

During the clashes, the Military Council troops fired approximately 28 heavy artillery shells into villages where civilians reside, resulting in one civilian sustaining injuries.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. Four Military Council Soldiers Defect to KNDF After Being Forcibly Recruited

Four soldiers who were forcibly conscripted under the guise of "people's military service" defected to the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF), according to a statement by the KNDF’s Central Information and Public Relations Department.

On December 11, the four soldiers escaped from the frontline in a Karenni State area and sought refuge with the KNDF. They reportedly brought three MA-1 assault rifles with them when they defected.

The soldiers stated they had been forcibly recruited under the pretense of "people's military service" and were sent to the frontlines against their will.

The KNDF called on members of the Military Council to stop serving an oppressive regime and enriching a small elite at the expense of others. Instead, they urged soldiers to stand with the people and defect to support the establishment of a free and just system.
