๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. AA Rescues Surrendering SAC Soldiers Amid Aerial Attacks
December 20
The Arakan Army (AA) released a video yesterday at midnight showing AA forces rescuing surrendering soldiers of the SAC (State Administration Council) amidst intense aerial and heavy artillery attacks.
The soldiers were reportedly surrendering during an airstrike and artillery shelling by the SAC forces. The video, lasting over six minutes, was titled:
"Scenes of AA rescuing disarmed and surrendering enemy personnel amidst heavy artillery and aerial attacks at the SAC Western Regional Military Command Headquarters in Ann on December 18, 2024."
The video captures SAC soldiers fleeing from the Regional Military Headquarters in Ann to surrender while being targeted by continuous aerial strikes from their own forces. In one scene, a surrendering soldier can be heard shouting, "Did you surrender because you dislike your own army?"
Among the surrendering soldiers was a civilian-clothed individual who, upon questioning by AA forces, revealed himself to be a doctor and identified as a senior medical officer. The video also showed several injured and elderly SAC soldiers.
The surrendering soldiers revealed that frontline troops had gone without drinking water for about six days, while water was available for senior officers. This disparity reportedly contributed to their decision to surrender.
The dramatic footage of AA rescuing surrendering soldiers amidst SAC aerial bombardments highlighted the humanitarian efforts of the AA. The AA emphasized that it prioritized saving lives, acting in accordance with international humanitarian law, despite the dangers to their own personnel.
