January 10

According to local reports, two children were killed and an infant lost one arm after artillery shells fired by the Myanmar military’s Infantry Battalion 530, stationed in Loilin Lay, struck Aingsan Village in Karenni State.

On the morning of January 9, around 11 a.m., the military launched artillery strikes towards Aingsan Village, resulting in the children’s deaths. Locals reported that the explosions caused the deaths of two 12-year-old girls and left a 4-month-old infant with a severed arm.

Additionally, a woman in her 30s sustained chest injuries from shrapnel caused by the shelling. The incident was confirmed by the information officer of the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF).

The KNDF information officer described the attack on civilians, especially children, as one of the most heinous and brutal acts carried out by the military junta. The Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC) also commented, stating that targeting civilians in non-combat zones constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity.

In a similar incident on November 8, 2024, artillery fired by the same Infantry Battalion 530 in Loilin Lay killed four civilians and injured three others in Nokoseinpyar and Tharyarbin Villages in Loikaw Township.
