Interim President Duwa Lashi La, during the National Unity Government's (NUG) 3/2025 cabinet meeting, emphasized the need to alter the diplomatic dynamics in the region that currently enable the military junta's financial lifeline.

"We have already passed numerous milestones on this revolutionary journey. To dismantle the oppressive military junta, it is crucial not only to address military and political fronts but also the financial sector. We must exert more efforts to undermine the financial pillars sustaining the junta. In addition to military strategies, we also need to employ political means. Moreover, it is essential to bring about changes in the regional diplomatic landscape that has been supporting the junta’s financial survival. Our government leaders need to prioritize this matter and actively push for results," said the Interim President.

Furthermore, the Interim President reiterated that the ongoing revolution is not merely a resistance movement but also a struggle to dismantle the military dictatorship. He noted that it is not sufficient to focus solely on safeguarding one’s own territory or interests, urging broader efforts for systemic change.

Union Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than stated on January 21, during a government cabinet meeting, that the military dictatorship must be uprooted entirely.

"The reckless actions of a power-hungry group have led to the collapse of the entire socio-political fabric of the nation, which is truly disheartening. Although this revolution has achieved remarkable successes compared to past revolutions, the sacrifices made have been immense. Therefore, this time, we must completely uproot the military dictatorship from its very foundation. Despite the challenges we face, we must persevere without faltering," said the Prime Minister.

He further stressed the importance of inter-ministerial discussions within the NUG, as well as consultations with allied revolutionary forces. Such engagements, whether in meetings or face-to-face discussions, must be outcome-oriented, the Prime Minister emphasized.

The meeting also included discussions on the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, where Union Minister U Lwin Ko Latt presented the Commission's report on collaboration between the Union government and federal units. Additionally, the Ministry of Women, Youth, and Children Affairs reported on its recent field visits to Karen and Karenni regions.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. GANHRI Expels Myanmar's Military-Controlled National Human Rights Commission

January 21
Radio NUG

The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) has formally decided to expel the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC), which operates under the control of the military junta. This decision was announced on January 16, 2025, by GANHRI’s working group and the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (ANNI).

Since the junta's attempted coup in 2021, over 6,000 people have died due to its brutal crackdown. Throughout this period, the MNHRC has remained complicit, collaborating with the junta and failing to respond to widespread human rights violations. The MNHRC’s silence and inaction violate the Paris Principles, which set the standards for independent and effective national human rights institutions.

The MNHRC has acted as a mouthpiece for the junta, endorsing its false narratives and enabling impunity for perpetrators of human rights abuses. Ultimately, the commission has become an accomplice to the junta’s crimes.
