The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Defense Minister, U Yee Mon, delivered a speech at the Commando Training Course of the No. 1 Military Region of the People’s Defense Force (PDF), according to an announcement by the No. 1 Military Region.
"In today's training, I am confident that all comrades are now capable of engaging decisively on the battlefield. While this commando training course has concluded, there remain some additional skills and knowledge to be learned in the future. A commando must be versatile, capable of handling and utilizing any weapon—whether it is their own or the enemy's—once it is in their hands. This ongoing training is essential to achieve that," Defense Minister U Yee Mon stated.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. PDF Releases First Standard Operating Order for Battalions

On January 4, 2025 (Independence Day), the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government officially released the First Standard Operating Order for Battalions of the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
The Standard Operating Order outlines:
- Objectives, historical background, goals, and core values;
- Military ethics;
- Standard organizational structures for battalions;
- Fundamental duties and responsibilities;
- Relevant operational roles and responsibilities;
- Standard operating procedures and disciplinary regulations; and
- Processes for publication, amendment, and supplementation.
All PDF battalions must operate in accordance with this Standard Operating Order.
The announcement also stated that this Standard Operating Order will be formally ratified and published on May 5, 2025, which marks the anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Defense Force (PDF).

The announcement highlighted that PDF fighters, emerging from the people, have been working closely and consistently with ERO comrades to advance revolutionary activities as part of their ongoing efforts.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Three Naypyidaw PDF Fighters Killed in Battle on the Eastern Bank of the Sittaung River

Three members of Naypyidaw PDF Battalion 901 were killed during clashes on the eastern bank of the Sittaung River in Bago Region’s Yedashe Township, near the villages of Yele Kyun and Pynnai Pin.
The battles occurred on the evening of January 3, around 4 p.m. During the confrontation with military junta forces, three comrades—Ko Hlaing Min Oo (alias Ko Sone Ye), Ko Naing Htet Wai (alias Ko Ta Yaw), and Ko Min Min Oo (alias Ko Pho Tay)—heroically lost their lives.
The announcement emphasized that the sacrifice of these brave comrades, who died courageously for the country and its people, will be honored. PDF Battalion 901 pledged to continue the fight against the oppressive military junta with unrelenting effort until the mission of eradicating their tyranny is achieved.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Kaytumati (Taungoo) Air Base Attacked with 107mm Short-Range Missiles

On January 4, Independence Day, the Kaytumati (Taungoo) Air Base in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, was attacked with 107mm short-range missiles, according to a statement by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM).
The operation, carried out at around 12:05 a.m., involved the launch of 12 missiles, of which 10 successfully hit their targets.
The attack was led by BWM, with support from the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), the Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and the Than Taung Northern Special Region Group, as part of Mission 28.
This marks the sixth attack on the Kaytumati Air Base under the 28 missions conducted by BWM and its allied forces. Investigations into the extent of damage caused by the strike are ongoing.
The Kaytumati Air Base is a key military installation in the south and plays a critical role in the junta’s aerial campaigns against the civilian population, including recent bombings in the Karenni region during New Year celebrations. It houses significant assets, including MiG-29 Jet Fighters and Y-12 Military Transport Aircraft, which are frequently used for airstrikes against the people.

The Tanintharyi Regional Government Office, Ministers' Residences, and SAC Battalion (8) in Dawei City, Tanintharyi Region, were bombed, according to a statement by the Dawei People’s Liberation Army (TPLF).
On December 31, a total of four bombing attacks were carried out: two targeting the Ministers' Residences and one each on the government office and SAC Battalion (8).
The statement reported that the attacks precisely hit military targets. However, due to weather conditions, two small aircraft involved in the operation were lost.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Ba Htoo Army, the Dawei District People's Defense Force Battalion (1), the Yay Phyu PDF, and the TPLF.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 7. Ground-Air Joint Offensive on Two People's Defense Villages in Western Shwebo

In Shwebo District, Sagaing Region, ground-air joint offensives targeted two People’s Defense Villages—Pan Yan and Thilone—west of Shwebo City, according to Shwebo Crocodile.
On January 2, while villagers were harvesting crops, the People's Defense Forces fired artillery and placed mines along possible routes of enemy advancement. Around 10:30 a.m., airstrikes were launched in coordination with ground offensives.
The attack resulted in three Pan Yan PDF members being injured and a local administrator from the SAC-appointed side, Nyunt Htun, sustaining a severed finger.
This operation was executed by a coalition of forces, including Snake Eyes (LPDF) Drone Unit, Shwebo Crocodile, Shwebo Township People's Security Force, Shwebo District Battalion (4), Farmer Liberation Forces (FIF), Daung Warriors Unit, Bo Lin Yaung (DPF), Shwebo Federal Army, Fiery Dragon Force, Sunray Shwebo Local Group, and Yaung Ni Revolutionary Coalition.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 8. Attack on SAC Bases in Malai Village Tract Results in 6 Deaths and Weapon Seizures

Two SAC bases in the villages of Thone Taung and Thayet Kaung Pin in Malai Township, Meiktila District, were simultaneously attacked with ground offensives and drone strikes around 10 a.m. on January 2, according to the Meiktila District Battalion (3).
In the operation, six SAC soldiers were killed on the spot, with others sustaining injuries. A SAC warrant officer was captured alive, and weapons, including three G3 rifles and 550 rounds of ammunition, were seized.
The attack was jointly carried out by Meiktila District Battalions (4/8/10), Meiktila District Battalion (2), the Nwa Toe Gyi PDF, and Malai Township PDF.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 9. SAC Forces on Patrol from Radar Station Ambushed in Ngaphe Township

In Ngaphe Township, Magway Region, about 200 meters west of Myo Sin Village, six SAC personnel on patrol from the Natyaykan Air Defense Radar Station were ambushed on motorcycles at around 5 p.m. on January 3, according to the PRA-Magway.
The skirmish, which lasted about 10 minutes, resulted in three SAC soldiers being killed and one injured. Revolutionary forces retreated without casualties, capturing one MA-3 rifle.
The PRA-Magway stated that the operation was part of its broader military objectives, either conducted individually or in collaboration with allied forces.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 10. Seized Vehicle of a CDM School Teacher Returned During Shan-Mandalay Campaign

As part of the Shan-Mandalay campaign launched in June 2024, the Thunderstrike Force and Region (3) PDF carried out a landmine ambush on a convoy carrying SAC personnel and explosives along the Mataya-Sittaw Road.
The operation resulted in the capture of a Canta vehicle, a Mark 2 car, and a Faw vehicle, along with three G3 rifles, one MA1 rifle, and four SAC soldiers.
Upon verifying ownership, the Canta vehicle was identified as belonging to a CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) school teacher. The vehicle, along with relevant documents, was returned to its owner on January 3, 2025.
The Thunderstrike Force and Region (3) PDF stated that they remain active in the Shan-Mandalay campaign and continue to recruit and train new members. They called on the public to provide support and assistance for the ongoing resistance efforts.
