๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NUG Condemns Argentina Court’s Move to Indict Leaders of the People’s Government, Calling It a Threat to National Unity and the Spring Revolution

Radio NUG

The National Unity Government (NUG) has strongly condemned the attempt by an Argentine court to indict and issue arrest warrants against leaders of the People’s Government, stating that such actions undermine national unity among Myanmar citizens and obstruct the ongoing, determined struggle of the Spring Revolution to completely eradicate military dictatorship. NUG further asserted that this move would ultimately benefit the violent military regime.

NUG affirmed that it welcomes and supports any international legal efforts to prosecute those responsible for the mass atrocities against the Rohingya people and to ensure justice for the victims. It emphasized that the perpetrators of these crimes were none other than the Myanmar military leaders and their subordinate battalions, who must be held accountable.

The NUG also reiterated that the Rohingya genocide, which took place in 2017, was carried out solely by the Myanmar military under the leadership of Min Aung Hlaing, in accordance with Article 20 (b) and (g) of the 2008 Constitution, which was then in effect. Therefore, those accountable for all associated crimes and penalties are Min Aung Hlaing and his accomplices. The UK-based Burmese Rohingya Organisation UK (BROUK) had filed a case in the Argentine court against Min Aung Hlaing and his associates, leading to arrest warrants, which the NUG welcomed.

However, the NUG strongly opposed the Argentine court’s move to include former President U Htin Kyaw and the incumbent State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in the list of those accused of genocide and war crimes, alongside Min Aung Hlaing and his accomplices. The NUG firmly regarded this as a wrongful accusation and called for their removal from the case.

The NUG emphasized that both former President U Htin Kyaw and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi took significant steps toward a fair and lasting resolution of the Rohingya issue, including the establishment of the Kofi Annan Commission. Likewise, the NUG has implemented a "Rohingya Policy" to ensure justice and equal rights for the Rohingya people.

Under these circumstances, the wrongful inclusion of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Htin Kyaw in the case could lead to misunderstandings between the Rohingya and other communities, potentially hindering Myanmar’s long-term peace, reconciliation, and future democratic transition.

The Arakan Army (AA) has released 198 detainees, including a Deputy Police Chief and families of junta personnel, who had been captured during ongoing battles in Rakhine State, according to Arakan Princess Media.

Among those released, there were 51 men and 147 women, with the majority being civilians from areas no longer under the control of the military junta.

The Arakan Army reportedly handed them over to their families in an official ceremony.

Earlier this month, the AA had also released 116 family members of junta personnel and 26 prisoners who had been captured during clashes.

However, not long ago, the military junta carried out an airstrike using a jet fighter on a temporary detention site where the Arakan Army was preparing to release detained junta families. The attack resulted in over 100 deaths and more than 120 injuries.
