๐๐ 1. Interim President Duwa Lashi La Calls for Fair Perspective Toward Ethnic Revolutionary Forces and Assures Continued Support for CDM Participants
February 8
Radio NUG
The interim president of the National Unity Government (NUG), Duwa Lashi La, has urged that there be no wavering perspectives toward ethnic revolutionary forces due to their strategic positions along borders with neighboring countries. He emphasized that the government does not intend to neglect or abandon CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) participants.
During a speech commemorating the 4th anniversary of the nonviolent resistance movement on February 8, the interim president stated:
"As we all know, our allied ethnic armed revolutionary groups often have to strategically position themselves along the borders with neighboring countries. In navigating the geopolitical pressures faced by our country, we must consider the regional political climate to ensure our movement remains effective without becoming isolated. Therefore, it’s necessary to adopt tactical adjustments from time to time. However, such adjustments should not be misunderstood as a shift away from our core objectives or goals."
He further acknowledged:
"While every effort rooted in the people's revolutionary journey is essential, some tasks are prioritized due to the urgency of the resistance. In this context, I admit that our government has not been able to provide full support to all participants of the CDM movement. For this, we feel a profound sense of responsibility and acknowledge our limitations. I understand that many participants who have bravely joined and persisted in the CDM movement may feel neglected or unsupported. However, this is by no means an indication of indifference or abandonment."

๐๐ 7. Serious Financial Frauds Committed by Prison Officials Targeting Families of Political Prisoners
February 8
Radio NUG
The Myanmar Political Prisoners Network (PPNM) released a statement detailing the surge of financial frauds by prison officials since early January 2025. They have reportedly contacted families of political detainees via phone, fabricating various reasons to extort money.
Officials from Obo Prison in Mandalay, Daik-U Prison, and Myeik Prison have been linked to such fraudulent activities. They frequently contacted families, falsely claiming urgent medical expenses for detainees to extort funds.
For instance, in Daik-U Prison, Myo Thiha Aung, the head of Dormitory 4, repeatedly contacted families claiming their loved ones were hospitalized and demanded money. He also threatened families not to ask about these claims during visitation, warning of repercussions. Other prison officials allegedly demanded bribes ranging from 100,000 to over 1 million kyats from these families.
A similar scheme was uncovered in Myeik Prison, where a male prison official fraudulently requested money from a family of a political detainee.
In Nyaung-U Prison, families reported being deceived into sending money for alleged purchases made by detainees.
Furthermore, in Pakokku Prison, Kyaw Lay, a staff member, demanded bribes ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 kyats, while another staff member known as "Sayadaw" was also implicated in extortion schemes.
The authorities have urged families of political prisoners to exercise caution, verify all information, and avoid making any payments without confirmation. They warned that if these fraudulent practices persist, the public will be notified by publishing photos of the perpetrators, and social sanctions may follow.

๐๐ 8. Protest Activity in Yangon: “This Uprising Against the Military Dictatorship Is None of Your Business—Just Pass By, Go Enlist Instead!”
February 8
Radio NUG
On February 8, despite heavy security deployments by the military council, an activist group staged a protest in a busy market in Yangon with signs reading: “This uprising against the military dictatorship is none of your business—just pass by, go enlist instead!”
This action was jointly organized by Yangon Revolutionary Brotherhood (4) and the Sanchaung Main Strike Column (SC Strike). Witnesses noted the strong support and encouragement from the public.
Since the military coup, the people of Myanmar have endured countless challenges, including insecurity, oppression, and the loss of fundamental human rights. Forced military conscriptions and arbitrary arrests have further compounded the suffering.
The protest highlighted the responsibility of the dictatorship, led by Min Aung Hlaing, for these hardships. The organizers called on the people to continue supporting the resistance until the total eradication of the military dictatorship.
This report was compiled and delivered by Radio NUG reporters Min Thihan and Khur Shel.
