๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. NUG Issues Statement and Appeal Regarding Land Disputes in Northern Shan Between KIO/KIA and PSLF/TNLA
March 14
The National Unity Government (NUG) has issued a statement and an appeal regarding ongoing land disputes in northern Shan State involving the Kachin Independence Organization/Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) and the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta'ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) on March 14.
The statement highlights concerns that these disputes have created significant anxiety not only among local residents but also among the broader public participating in the Spring Revolution.
NUG acknowledges that all revolutionary forces are working toward fulfilling the people's aspirations and, therefore, bear the responsibility of mitigating public concerns. The statement welcomes reports that the leadership of both groups views the issue as an internal conflict between allied forces and has committed to resolving it through political means.
NUG expresses confidence that both sides' leadership can prevent recent clashes from escalating into broader ethnic tensions. The government believes that face-to-face negotiations will allow most disputes to be resolved smoothly.
In addition, NUG welcomes recent indications that central-level discussions between both groups will take place in the coming days and that public opinions will be considered in addressing these issues. These developments suggest a people-centered approach to conflict resolution.
As revolutionary forces operating in the interests of the people, NUG urges all involved parties to adopt a people-first approach to overcoming current challenges. By doing so, NUG believes the country can move forward toward the long-cherished goal of a Federal Democratic Union. Furthermore, NUG reiterates its commitment to supporting peaceful political solutions and stands ready to assist in any necessary capacity.
