Saw Chit Thu stated in an interview with The Nation at his private residence in Shwe Kokko, Myawaddy, Karen State, that the Border Guard Force (BGF) can no longer afford to spend 1.6 million baht per day to feed and shelter detainees captured from Kyarpyaint (scamming) syndicates along the Thai-Myanmar border.

Saw Chit Thu agreed to the interview in response to allegations that he is a key figure behind the fraudulent operations that exploit trafficked scam workers and generate billions of dollars worldwide.

"Right now, everyone is blaming me alone. No one is taking responsibility to resolve these issues themselves. No matter what I do or when I do it, I am always criticized. Even though I am cooperating with the Thai, Myanmar, and Chinese authorities to crack down on scam syndicates, people still think I am just putting on a show," said Colonel Saw Chit Thu.

He also urged the respective home countries of the over 7,000 foreign nationals awaiting repatriation to take responsibility for their citizens.

According to the statement, the junta has been conducting continuous airstrikes on civilians and populated areas, killing 14 people and injuring around 15.
