๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Over 50 Civilians Killed and Nearly 50 Injured in Four Days of Airstrikes by the Military Junta (March 28 – April 1)

April 2

The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) has reported that between March 28 and April 1, the military junta’s aerial attacks resulted in the deaths of no fewer than 50 civilians, with nearly 50 others injured.

This revelation was made in a statement issued on April 2, condemning the junta’s continued airstrikes even as the country grapples with the devastation caused by the recent powerful earthquake.

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck central Sagaing Township on the afternoon of March 28 has so far claimed over 4,200 lives, with thousands more injured or missing. Tens of thousands of families have been displaced due to the destruction.

Despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis, revolutionary forces have temporarily ceased offensive operations to focus on rescue and relief efforts. However, the military junta has continued its relentless attacks, including air raids, bombings, and arson, targeting civilian villages across the country, including those already devastated by the earthquake.

Between March 28 and April 1, the junta conducted 32 airstrikes across 11 locations, including Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region and Singu Township in Mandalay Region, killing more than 50 civilians and injuring at least 49 others.

The NUCC has strongly condemned these acts of violence, stating that targeting civilians—especially those already suffering from the earthquake—is utterly unacceptable. The council has also urged the international community to move beyond verbal condemnations and take concrete action against the junta’s escalating war crimes.

In particular, the NUCC has called for immediate international intervention to halt the junta’s indiscriminate airstrikes without any exceptions.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Junta Forces Attack a Chinese Red Cross Convoy Carrying Earthquake Relief Supplies

April 2

A convoy from the Chinese Red Cross, transporting humanitarian aid for earthquake victims, came under attack by junta forces, according to an urgent statement released by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) on the night of April 1.

The attack occurred at around 9:30 PM on April 1 near Ummatee Village in Naung Cho Township, as the nine-truck convoy was traveling towards Mandalay. Despite having officially informed the junta of their route in advance, the convoy was ambushed along the way, forcing it to turn back toward Naung Cho.

The TNLA reported that its forces provided protection for the convoy and ensured its safe passage to its intended destination.

On April 1, the Three Brotherhood Alliance (MNDAA, TNLA, and AA) announced a one-month ceasefire to prioritize post-earthquake rescue operations and avoid conflict zones. However, just hours later, the junta launched the attack on the relief convoy.

Despite the National Unity Government (NUG) and resistance forces declaring a temporary ceasefire for humanitarian reasons, the junta has refused to comply. Instead, junta leaders have stated that they will continue military operations.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Despite the Ceasefire Declared by Resistance Forces Due to the Earthquake, the Junta Continues Daily Aerial Bombardments Nationwide, Including in Kachin State

April 2

Despite resistance forces declaring a ceasefire to focus on earthquake relief efforts, the military junta has continued its daily airstrikes, according to the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in a statement issued on the night of April 1.

The KIA reported ongoing airstrikes by junta forces in Kachin State, Sagaing Region, and other parts of the country, even after the devastating March 28 earthquake.

The NUG had earlier announced a two-week suspension of all offensive operations, while the Three Brotherhood Alliance declared a one-month ceasefire for April. However, junta forces have ignored these efforts and continued their air raids.

On March 31, KIA Brigade 8, Battalion 5 reported that junta aircraft carried out two separate bombings, despite no ongoing clashes at the time.

In Bhamo, where intense fighting had occurred earlier, the junta has continued to launch daily airstrikes. Additionally, on April 1, junta forces conducted four separate air raids on Inndaw Township in Sagaing Region.

The KIA is still assessing the full extent of casualties and damages caused by the junta’s airstrikes in Kachin State.

Furthermore, at approximately 5 AM on April 1, junta troops launched a ground assault near Lamyang Village in Waingmaw Township, resulting in clashes with KIA-allied forces. The junta also deployed drones for aerial bombardments during the attack.

Ethnic resistance forces have condemned the junta for prioritizing indiscriminate bombings over humanitarian relief efforts amid the ongoing earthquake disaster.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Sagaing Township Emergency Earthquake Relief Committee Conducts Rescue and Clean-Up Operations

April 2

The Sagaing Township Emergency Earthquake Relief Committee has begun conducting rescue and clean-up operations, according to an announcement by the Sagaing Pa Ah Pha.

The statement was accompanied by footage showing the use of heavy machinery to clear debris, demonstrating a portion of the committee’s ongoing relief efforts.

“In addition to providing humanitarian assistance to earthquake victims, we are also carrying out restoration efforts in areas under our control,” said a regional representative from Sagaing.

However, humanitarian access to Sagaing Town has been severely restricted, with junta forces and pro-junta Pyu militias blocking aid deliveries and preventing independent relief organizations from assisting affected communities.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Township Administrator in Pulaw Assassinated After Extorting Young People Under Forced Conscription Law

April 2

In Pulaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, resistance forces have assassinated township administrator Khin Maung Win, who had been arresting and extorting money from young people under the pretext of forced military conscription.

According to a statement by the Myeik District Battalion 1, the operation took place at 11 AM on March 31 in Ward 4 of Pulaw Town. Khin Maung Win was shot and killed on the spot.

He was reportedly a key enforcer of the junta’s military conscription law, coercing young people into military service while also engaging in intimidation and extortion.

Despite repeated warnings from resistance groups, Khin Maung Win continued his actions, leading to the targeted assassination, according to the Myeik District Battalion 1.

The operation was carried out jointly by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) of Myeik District Battalion 1 and Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Battalion 7.

Resistance forces in Pulaw Township have issued a stern warning to all village and ward administrators, stating that anyone who forcibly enlists young people, threatens civilians under the pretext of conscription, or abuses their power will be targeted for elimination.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Yinmarbin Township Administrative Body Prohibits Festivities Due to Aerial Threats

April 2

The Yinmarbin Township Administrative Body has issued a prohibition against holding grand-scale celebrations during the Maha Thingyan festival, citing the ongoing aerial attacks by the terrorist military council.

This measure was taken as the military regime continues to launch airstrikes using transport aircraft, fighter jets, and attack helicopters.

Furthermore, as the country remains in a period of revolution to completely dismantle the military dictatorship—and in light of the countless civilians who have perished due to the regime's brutal actions, along with the sacrifices of resistance fighters across the nation, as well as the hardships faced by war refugees and earthquake victims—the public is urged to refrain from holding large-scale festivities out of respect and solidarity.

Accordingly, local village-based Pa Ka Pha and Pa Ah Pha groups have been urged not to permit the construction of festival pavilions, performances with traditional orchestras, public dances, and water-throwing activities.

Additionally, the Yinmarbin Township Administrative Body has notified the public that the use of narcotics, excessive alcohol consumption, and the buying and selling of illicit substances will not be tolerated.

April 2

A landmine attack targeted a military column from the junta's forces that had departed from the Bodhi Gon Base in Paungde Township, Bago Region, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to three others, according to Battalion 3601 of the Paungde People’s Defense Force (PPDF).

The ambush was carried out by PPDF Battalion 3601’s Units 4 and 5 at Tay Pin Gyo Junction around 2 PM on April 1, targeting a junta unit that had left the Bodhi Gon Base.

The resistance forces successfully launched three consecutive landmine attacks, after which the injured and deceased soldiers were transported away in a military truck heading toward Pauk Khaung Town.

Additionally, on March 27, PPDF Battalion 3601 launched three separate landmine attacks against a junta force of over a hundred soldiers that had left the Thitpot Taw Electricity Tower Base and torched 56 homes in Lepan Kone Village. April 2

A police officer traveling by motorcycle along the Yangon–Mandalay Expressway was shot and killed, leading to the seizure of a stash of stimulant drugs, according to the Taikkyi People’s Revolutionary Forces.

The officer, identified as Police Sergeant Than Htike from Yamethin Police Station, was targeted near the 256-mile marker on March 28. He was fatally shot on the spot.

Upon searching his belongings, resistance forces confiscated 30 WY methamphetamine pills, three mobile phones, a power bank, and a single round of ammunition. The resistance group also claimed that the deceased officer was not only a user of narcotics but also involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs.

This operation was carried out in collaboration between the Taikkyi People’s Revolutionary Forces and Pa Ka Pha forces from Yamethin District.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 9. Public Outrage as SAC Troops Clear Rubble Instead of Rescuing Earthquake Victims

April 2

The public has strongly condemned the State Administration Council (SAC) troops for focusing on clearing debris from the Mandalay city walls instead of prioritizing the rescue of trapped earthquake victims.

In a recently released video, SAC police officers were seen removing bricks from the collapsed city walls, prompting widespread criticism. Many questioned their actions, with comments such as:
"Is this what they call a rescue operation?"

The terrorist military junta and Pyusawhti militias have also been accused of obstructing and intimidating legitimate rescue teams attempting to reach the affected areas.

Following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck on March 28, the death toll has surged into the thousands. Many bodies remain buried under the rubble, with urgent recovery efforts still needed.
