๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. The Junta’s Human Rights Commission Lacks Both Credibility and Public Trust, Says Union Minister

May 12
"The so-called Human Rights Commission of the brutal military junta not only fails to meet internationally established standards and norms but also completely lacks the respect, trust, and confidence of the general public," said Union Minister for Human Rights U Aung Myo Min.

"The identities of the commission members are unknown, as are their activities. Not once have they raised their voices regarding human rights violations, nor have they ever dared to publicly report the truth about ongoing violations. As such, it is clear that these commission members are not functioning in accordance with the Paris Principles—they are neither independent nor credible, and they are failing to uphold the responsibilities of a true human rights commission," the Minister added.
"The commission clearly falls short not only of international benchmarks but also lacks any semblance of public trust or legitimacy," he emphasized.

According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), from February 1, 2021—the day of the unlawful military coup—up to May 9, 2025, a total of 6,621 democracy activists and civilians were killed by the military junta and its affiliates during the Spring Revolution period.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. CDM Nurses and Midwives Recognized for Their Courage in Defying Junta Brutality

May 12
Dr. Shwe Phone, Deputy Union Minister for Health of the National Unity Government (NUG), praised the nurses and midwives participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), describing them as individuals who continue to bravely resist the junta’s brutal oppression while actively participating in the revolution.

In remarks delivered at the International Day of the Midwife and International Nurses Day Commemoration Ceremony held on May 10, 2025, organized by the Interim Council of Nurses and Midwives of the Federal Health System, Dr. Shwe Phone said:

"At present, the healthcare system in Myanmar is facing unprecedented circumstances—unlike anything experienced in the country’s history. Since the military illegally seized power from the people in February 2021, the most robust civil disobedience movement in Myanmar’s history has emerged as a vanguard force in the Spring Revolution.

Even before the coup, during the first and second waves of COVID-19, nurses and midwives stood shoulder to shoulder with the people, working tirelessly day and night on disease prevention and control efforts alongside the civilian government. The people recognized them as true heroes of the healthcare sector.

Today, those CDM nurses and midwives continue to courageously stand on the side of righteousness, withstanding relentless attacks and persecution by the junta, which seeks to crush CDM participants from all directions. Despite these adversities, they remain actively engaged in the revolutionary movement,” the Deputy Minister affirmed.

At present, tens of thousands of CDM healthcare workers continue to stand with the revolution, delivering essential public health services, particularly in ethnic regions.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. Over 500 Students Certified by Interim Council of Nursing and Midwifery Schools

The Interim Council for Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools in Myanmar announced on May 12 that it has successfully awarded graduation certificates to over 500 students over the past two years.

Since 2021, efforts have been made to implement an interim education program by bringing together nursing schools, midwifery schools, combined nursing and midwifery schools, and affiliated institutions across the country under a unified body—the Interim Council. This initiative enabled the resumption of formal training programs.

By 2022, arrangements were made to allow third-year students—who only had final exams remaining—to complete their studies with verified academic standards. Instructors and administrative staff from each school coordinated discussions, reviews, and assessments to ensure academic integrity.
Simultaneously, efforts were made to enable students from first and second-year cohorts to continue their studies and advance to the next academic level.

According to the Council:

In 2023, a first batch of 402 students received official graduation certificates.

In 2024, a second batch of 100 students was certified.

In 2025, a third batch of 38 students successfully completed their training and were awarded their certificates.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Citizens Encouraged to Join the Upcoming ‘Weaponization of Aid’ (WOA) Campaign and Speak Out

May 12

Blood Money Campaign MM has issued a call urging individual citizens to participate to the best of their ability and raise their voices in the soon-to-be-launched Weaponization of Aid (WOA) campaign.

They stated, “During the 2008 Cyclone Nargis disaster, the violent military junta exploited international humanitarian aid as a weapon. Now, in the aftermath of the March 2025 Sagaing earthquake, they are once again engaging in similarly inhumane and reprehensible actions. They must not be granted further opportunities to repeat such behavior. It is our collective responsibility to resist this. Therefore, we respectfully and earnestly encourage every individual to participate in the upcoming WOA campaign and raise their voices in opposition.”

The earthquake that struck Sagaing in the afternoon of March 28 claimed over 3,000 lives. Although the junta has received international aid and financial assistance, reports indicate that actual on-the-ground delivery and distribution of this aid remain severely lacking.
