๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 9. Despite Support from Autocratic Allies, Junta Now Limited to Airstrikes Amid Widespread Territorial Losses

As the Spring Revolution marks its fourth year, the junta has lost control over large portions of territory in ethnic regions such as Kachin, Karen, Rakhine, and Karenni States, and is now largely limited to conducting airstrikes, according to an assessment by PDF Insight.

Resistance forces including the KNU, KIA, and PDFs have conducted successful offensives in areas such as Banmaw, Shwegyin, Dawei, and Kawkareik, capturing weapons and ammunition. In Rakhine, only three townships reportedly remain under junta control.

Although the junta continues to receive backing from foreign authoritarian allies, its control on the ground has significantly weakened. It is increasingly unable to suppress the resistance of the general public.

One stark example occurred on May 12, when a junta airstrike targeted a school in Ohtainkwin Village, Dipeyin Township. The bombing killed two female teachers and twenty-two students. Despite this atrocity, public support for the revolution has only intensified.

Ethnic armed organizations and the NUG-aligned PDF forces are currently implementing emergency strategic measures to dismantle the junta at its roots. Analysts highlight a strong prospect of success, driven by the power and resilience of the people
