๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Approximately 70 Landmines Planted by Junta Cleared in Yedashe Township
May 18
Radio NUG
In Yedashe Township, Bago Region, a total of approximately 70 landmines planted by the military junta were successfully cleared from a main public road frequently used by civilians, located between Kwan Ohn and Thaphan Zin villages, according to Battalion 3504.
The landmines — identified as M-2 anti-personnel mines — were haphazardly laid on May 15 by junta forces advancing from the Yedashe side. The placement showed a blatant disregard for civilian safety, as they were planted directly on commonly used pedestrian paths.
The demining operation was carried out on May 18 by Battalion 3504, a local unit stationed in the eastern region of Sittaung River, in coordination with Pa Ka Pha (PDF) forces and Battalion 805 of the Central Military Command of the National Unity Government (NUG).
Residents were issued strong warnings to exercise extreme caution while traveling in the area, as the junta has repeatedly demonstrated a pattern of indiscriminately planting mines without consideration for civilian lives.
