On July 8, 2025, at 2:20 PM, the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), in coordination with KNLA Brigade 2, Battalion 5, and allied forces—Mountain Knights Civilian Defense Force (MKCDF) and Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF)—launched a rocket attack using three 107mm short-range artillery rockets on Infantry Battalion 39 (LIB-39) of the military junta based near Mile 4 in Taungoo Township.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 7. Intense Fighting in Thapyay Kyin as Junta Forces Regain Control of 5-Mile Village
Fierce battles are ongoing in Thapyay Kyin Township, which was previously under the control of resistance forces, and the military junta has regained control of 5-Mile Village, according to People’s Spring.
Fighting erupted starting in early June when junta troops advanced from the Electric Engineering Battalion based in 7-Mile Village and from Tatmadaw Officer Training School No. 13 (TATC-13) in Twin Nge Village.
After reinforcing remaining battalions with air support, the junta launched a renewed offensive, employing Y-12 and MI-35 aircraft along with drones. As a result, the junta successfully recaptured 5-Mile Village.
As of now, 4-Mile and 6-Mile Villages remain under the control of revolutionary forces. During the fighting, a senior colonel and a lieutenant colonel from the junta side were reportedly killed, with additional casualties among lower-ranking personnel. Resistance fighters also suffered casualties and injuries during the clashes.
The resistance offensive on Thapyay Kyin lasted for nine days and culminated on August 25, 2024, when they fully seized control of the town. During that operation, the resistance captured numerous junta troops, including Deputy Lieutenant Colonel Soe Min Thu.
Although the town itself was seized, the entire township was not yet fully cleared of junta forces. Some fleeing soldiers regrouped at Tatmadaw Officer Training School No. 13 in Twin Nge Village and the Electric Engineering Battalion in 7-Mile Village, where they fortified their positions in preparation for counterattacks.
