πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 4. Call on Indian government to halt all arms sales and military cooperation with the Myanmar junta

August 14
Radio NUG

Justice For Myanmar (JFM) has urged the Indian government to end all arms sales and military cooperation with the Myanmar military junta, and to impose targeted sanctions against the Light Head Group network, its directors, shareholders, and all arms brokers linked to the junta.

According to research findings, since the 2021 coup, the junta has procured weapons, dual-use equipment, technologies, and fuel from India through the Indian Air Force, state-owned enterprises, and private companies.

JFM stated that the Indian government has also provided military training to Myanmar army officers. Photographic evidence reportedly shows Myanmar military officers receiving training in India—specifically at the Indian Army Educational Corps Training College and Centre in Pachmarhi in 2024, and at the Indian Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering in Hyderabad in 2022.

In 2023, Indian Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane visited Myanmar and met with Lt-Gen Khin Myint Than, Chief of Defence Industries, as well as junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, JFM reported.

Additionally, Indian experts are said to have assisted in upgrading the Man Than Paya Kan oil refinery in Magway Region, which is under junta control. Aviation fuel produced at this refinery has been used in the junta’s airstrike campaigns.
