Radio NUG
Led by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), in cooperation with Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Force (MKCDF), Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and Northern Than Daung Special Region Fighters, an attack was launched on August 26 at 10:53 a.m. against the Southern Regional Command Headquarters with five short-range rockets. Four rockets successfully hit the target, BWM announced.
The Southern Regional Command HQ is one of the junta’s main military headquarters used to suppress resistance forces in Karen State, Karenni State, and southern Shan areas. The attack was conducted as part of BWM’s “Mission 45,” highlighting the junta’s inability to defend itself.
Similarly, at 10:43 a.m. on the same day, BWM carried out “Mission 44” by launching nine 107mm short-range rockets at the Bogyoke Aung San (Army) Combat Training School in Than Taung Gyi, all of which struck successfully.
The Bogyoke Aung San Combat Training School is a major institution where the junta trains battalion, company, and regimental commanders. According to inside information, over 400 military officers were attending a course that had just resumed on August 25, which is why the attack was carried out during training hours.
The attack aimed not only at retaliating against junta officers who have been oppressing and killing civilians but also at instilling insecurity among the regime’s followers by demonstrating that they could be attacked anytime, anywhere.
Initial reports suggest junta officers were among the casualties, and further details on losses and damages will be released later.
