๐๐ 4. Pyay University student escapes from forced military conscription
A distance-learning student from Pyay University who had been forcibly detained for military conscription managed to escape, according to the Shwe Taung People’s Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha).
The escapee, Maung Myo Min Hein, was arrested in August 2025 near the end of 17th Street, Pyay City, while riding a motorbike with three friends. They were blocked and forcibly detained by soldiers.
Although all four were initially arrested, the other two—who worked at the Pyay Electricity Office—were released after their superiors intervened. Myo Min Hein, however, was kept at Collection Camp No. 959 for three nights and later transferred to Battalion No. 14 in Pyay.
At Battalion No. 14, he was held for about five days along with other detainees. He managed to escape when the military commission guards were inattentive and later contacted the Shwe Taung Pa Ka Pha for refuge.
It is confirmed that he resides in Shwe Taung Township, Myoma Group Village, and is a first-year Physics distance-learning student at Pyay University. He has now joined the Shwe Taung Pa Ka Pha and pledged to resist the Military Commission.
These reports were contributed by Radio NUG correspondents Khur Shel and Padeh Phoe.
