๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Justice For Myanmar urges JCB to end its ties with UAB cronies that support the military junta

September 6
Radio NUG

Justice For Myanmar (JFM) has called on Japanese payment company JCB to terminate its relationships with UAB Bank and cronies that are supporting and aiding the Myanmar military junta in committing grave crimes.

JFM stated that JCB must ensure transparency regarding its business operations in Myanmar. They highlighted that UAB Bank, with which JCB partners as a service provider, is a crony-owned bank already under international sanctions.

According to the UN Special Rapporteur on Myanmar, UAB Bank is among the financial institutions used by the junta to make payments for aviation fuel purchases. Moreover, it is said to have deep ties with the IGE Group, a major Myanmar crony conglomerate that is sanctioned by the European Union.

IGE Group’s founder and chairperson, Nay Aung, is known to have very close business ties with the military junta. He reportedly made financial donations in support of the junta’s “2017 clearance operations” in Rakhine State.

JFM further revealed that they had sent inquiries on July 17, together with Mekong Watch and Japanese civil society organizations, questioning whether JCB had conducted any prior human rights due diligence regarding UAB Bank following the 2021 coup attempt, whether it had examined or mitigated potential complicity in international crimes through its relationship with UAB, and whether it had ended its partnership with the bank. However, JCB has not provided any response.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 6. Military-appointed administrator announces a 7-day blockade on Khin Gyi Village in Wundwin Township

September 6
Radio NUG

According to Voice of Wundwin (VOW), the junta-appointed administrator announced that Khin Gyi Village in Wundwin Township, Meiktila District, Mandalay Region, will be placed under a strict seven-day blockade.

The announcement was made by loudspeaker on September 6 at noon, ordering that from that moment onward for seven consecutive days, all shops inside and outside the village must close and are prohibited from selling any goods.

The order stated that no food items—including rice, cooking oil, medicine, salt, vegetables, meat, fish, and dry goods—could be sold. Fuel stations for petrol and diesel were also ordered to shut down completely.

As a result of the order, villagers rushed to buy up goods at shops before the noon deadline, leading to a wave of panic buying.

VOW urged locals to hide their food supplies in places where soldiers could not easily see or find them. It also reported that in villages in the eastern part of the township, junta troops had been entering homes, searching even inside rice storage bins, and stealing whatever they found, sometimes at knifepoint.

This report was filed by Radio NUG correspondents Khur Shel and Padeh Phoe.
