🚩🚩 1. Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN Says the Military Regime Has Been Committing Extrajudicial Executions to Instill Fear Among the People
October 23
Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, stated that the military junta has been deliberately carrying out extrajudicial executions to instill fear among the public and to suppress opposition against its rule.
He made these remarks during an interactive dialogue of the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee—which focuses on Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Issues—under the discussion topic concerning extrajudicial, summary, or arbitrary executions.
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun explained that since the illegal military coup in February 2021, Myanmar has been witnessing a tragic pattern of extrajudicial killings and arbitrary executions committed by the junta for over four years.
In July 2022, he said, the junta executed political prisoners to demonstrate its cruelty and terrorize the population, showing how far it would go to crush dissent and maintain power.
He cited Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees every individual the right to life, liberty, and security of person, emphasizing that these fundamental rights have been systematically violated in Myanmar by the junta through state-sanctioned killings.
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun also pointed out that due to the lack of effective international action against these crimes, the military regime has continued to act with total impunity, exploiting this freedom to commit more atrocities. He highlighted that the junta’s forces have massacred women and children, carried out unlawful detentions and executions, and intensified their brutal attacks on innocent civilians.
Reports from credible and verified sources, he added, have consistently documented that the junta has been committing heinous, inhumane, and unethical crimes in blatant violation of international law and human decency.
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun warned that any election organized by these perpetrators of crimes would be neither free nor fair, and would only serve as a sham attempt to legitimize tyranny. He urged the international community to support efforts aimed at ending the junta’s atrocities and to assist the ongoing movement to build a new, democratic federal Myanmar.

🚩🚩 3. Danu Army Urges the Danu People Not to Support the Military’s Sham Elections
October 23
The Danu People’s Liberation Front/Army (DPLF/DPLA) has issued an appeal urging the Danu people not to support or participate in the military’s planned elections, which the group condemned as a self-serving attempt to perpetuate the junta’s power.
In a statement released on October 23, the DPLF/DPLA warned that the upcoming election—organized by the junta for its own benefit—was designed solely to entrench its rule, not to represent the will of the people. The group called on the Danu public to refrain from “watering a poisonous tree” by legitimizing such a process.
The statement also made clear that the DPLF/DPLA will not recognize or accept any election conducted by the military regime.
Emphasizing the Danu people’s historical commitment to building a federal democratic union, the DPLF/DPLA pledged to intensify its cooperation with the public and revolutionary allies to advance both political and military efforts toward that goal.
It stated that the DPLF/DPLA would adopt a “bottom-up federalism” approach, strengthening the states first as a foundation for a strong federal union, and that it would actively participate in structured political processes to represent the Danu people both domestically and internationally.
The DPLF/DPLA also reaffirmed its cooperation with allied forces, including the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), in conducting joint operations against the junta’s forces in Danu and neighboring regions.
