🚩🚩 1. Revolutionary forces launch a short-range rocket attack on the Central Command Headquarters in Mandalay, where coup leader Min Aung Hlaing was staying

October 4

The revolutionary forces successfully carried out a rocket attack with 107mm short-range rockets on the Central Command Headquarters in Mandalay (known as Lapa Kha), where the terrorist coup leader Min Aung Hlaing was staying, according to a statement released today, October 4, by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM).

Reports indicate that Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Mandalay from Pyin Oo Lwin on the evening of October 3 to attend the 200th Anniversary Ceremony of Mandalay University and stayed at the Central Command Headquarters (Lapa Kha). As a result, the revolutionary forces launched their attack that same night.

It was stated that Min Aung Hlaing, who uses civilians as human shields, was preparing to attend the Mandalay University bicentennial ceremony. Therefore, the revolutionary forces chose to strike overnight.

According to BWM, although attacking the university ceremony would have been easier, they avoided it out of concern for civilian casualties. Instead, they deliberately targeted the Central Command Headquarters where Min Aung Hlaing was staying.

While the coup leader himself was not directly hit, the statement noted that his subordinate soldiers inside the headquarters may have been affected by the attack.

BWM further explained that this mission was an emergency lightning operation planned within hours, but it nevertheless posed a real threat to Min Aung Hlaing’s life. They also expressed gratitude to allied revolutionary forces who supported the operation.

This was BWM’s 46th mission, carried out under BWM leadership in cooperation with No More Dictatorship (NMD – PDF), People Servant Force (PSF), and Yadanabon Battalion.

🚩🚩 2. Military airstrikes on Mindat town injure three civilians

October 4

According to the Chin Defence Force – Mindat (CDF-Mindat), the terrorist military conducted airstrikes on Mindat town in Chin State, injuring three civilians early this morning.

The bombings occurred at 1:23 a.m. and 1:34 a.m. on October 4, while residents were asleep. As a result, three civilians sustained serious injuries.

The military dropped bombs in two different locations within Mindat town, causing not only injuries but also damage to civilian homes, the CDF reported.

It is noted that Mindat town was fully captured by Chin Brotherhood allied forces on December 21, 2024. Unable to launch a ground offensive to retake it, the junta has since repeatedly carried out airstrikes.

This aligns with the junta’s nationwide strategy of attempting to retake lost territories through both ground offensives and relentless airstrikes.

🚩🚩 3. Junta reorganizes some Light Infantry Divisions into regular Infantry Divisions, MDSI reports

October 4

The Myanmar Defence and Security Institute (MDSI) revealed today that the junta has reorganized several of its core Light Infantry Divisions (LIDs) into regular Infantry Divisions.

Under this restructuring, the LIDs 22, 55, and 99 have already been officially renamed as Infantry Divisions, while the remaining units are still under review.

MDSI assessed that the practice of renaming LIDs into Infantry Divisions dates back to around 2022.

Although the Tatmadaw distinguishes between Light Infantry and Infantry units, their structure and functions are essentially the same. Infantry Divisions typically manage regional operations under Regional Commands, while LIDs are mobile strike forces under direct control of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army.

It is understood that LIDs include both light infantry and standard infantry regiments. A division headquarters generally consists of three brigades and 10 battalions.

Before the coup, each LID had around 1,300–1,500 troops, but by 2022–2023, that number had dropped to 700–800 due to battlefield casualties. Reinforcements from reserve units kept them just under 1,000.

However, after the 2024 Conscription Law was enacted, recruitment gradually restored manpower, raising division strength to an average of about 3,000 troops each, roughly double pre-coup levels, MDSI noted.

It is further reported that between 2015 and 2020, some Regional Military Commands (RMCs) such as RMCs 3, 4, and 16 were also reorganized into Infantry Divisions and adjusted to serve as air assault units.

🚩🚩 4. Junta launches another airstrike on a village in Hsipaw Township

October 4

The PSLF/TNLA Information and Public Relations Department announced that the terrorist junta conducted another airstrike on Man Hae village, Hsipaw Township, in the Ta’ang (Palaung) region, Northern Shan State.

At 7:49 a.m. today, two 250-pound bombs were dropped by a jet fighter on the site of a former military-police station in the village.

The TNLA confirmed that there were no civilian casualties in this particular strike.

This attack comes after the junta claimed to have recaptured Kyaukme town. On October 2, the military also carried out an airstrike with two 500-pound bombs targeting the Kumudra Hotel in San Phaik village, Hsipaw Township, deliberately aiming at civilians and damaging the building.

Similarly, on October 2, the junta dropped a 500-pound bomb inside Namtu town, where no fighting was occurring. That strike killed three civilians, injured six others, and destroyed eight houses, according to TNLA records.

TNLA has warned civilians to remain vigilant, avoid junta bombing targets, and take necessary protective measures, since the junta deliberately targets non-military civilian areas.

🚩🚩 5. Anti-election protest held in Launglon town against junta’s sham polls

October 4

According to the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC), a public protest was held in Launglon town, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region on the afternoon of October 3 to oppose the junta’s planned sham election.

The movement was staged under the slogan:
“Boycott the sham election – March firmly toward Federal Democracy.”

DDMSC stated that the sham election is an attempt by the junta, which has already abolished opposition parties and banned political leaders, to distract the public while continuing to uphold its unlawful coup regime.

Since seizing power more than four years ago, the junta has carried out daily crimes against civilians, including arbitrary arrests, torture, killings, and the widespread burning of homes.

According to DDMSC, the coup leaders are attempting to maintain power through a sham election to cover up their war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against civilians.

They stressed that the junta, which has unlawfully seized state power through military force, is nothing more than a terrorist group of traitors against the nation. Therefore, the people must resolutely reject and boycott the sham election, while continuing the struggle for democracy and the establishment of a federal union.
