Radio NUG
At the ceremony marking World Teachers’ Day 2025 held on October 5, Chairman of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), U Aung Kyi Nyunt, called for strengthening innovative teaching methods and collaborative efforts in Myanmar’s education sector.
The ceremony was jointly organized by the Interim Federal Education Council (iFEC), Joint Coordination Committee (Education), and the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government (NUG).
Attendees included the Acting President, Prime Minister, scholars, and members of the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
During his address, U Aung Kyi Nyunt said:
“Innovative education must not be pursued in isolation but through cooperation and interconnected strength. Only then will we gain the power to build the future nation.”
He also emphasized the importance of establishing a new education system in alignment with this year’s theme —
“Reinventing Education through Collaboration for a Stronger Future.”
Since the 2021 military coup, Myanmar’s education sector has suffered severe repression. In this regard, U Aung Kyi Nyunt praised the bravery of CDM teachers, educators, and students, recognizing their unwavering efforts to sustain education despite schools and learners being targets of military attacks.
World Teachers’ Day, first commemorated in 1994 based on the 1966 UNESCO and ILO Recommendation, carried deeper significance in Myanmar this year — as it was observed amidst the struggle to overcome the destruction of education under military dictatorship.
He urged for stronger collaboration between teachers, parents, students, and international partners to build a federal education system.
“Let us ensure that our future generations and children grow up as free human beings, educated both intellectually and morally, so that they will never again have to live or learn under any form of dictatorship,” he stressed.
