Next, a leader of the Naga ethnic group gave an opening speech.

After that, an official from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration gave a detailed explanation on implementing interim people administration.

Naga ethnic leaders who attended discussed in detail not only the ground conditions, difficulties, challenges, and educational and health needs, but also the possibility of a direct connection between the already established revolutionary forces and the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee, etc.

The meeting was attended by the Union Minister of Health and Ministry of Education, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe; the Union Minister of Commerce, Daw Khin Ma Ma Myo; the Union Minister of Women, Youths and Children Affairs, Daw Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe; the Union Minister of Labour, U Nai Tun Pe (a) U Nai Suwunna; the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, U Khu Hte Bu; the Deputy Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Ngai Tam Maung; Naga ethnic leaders and secretaries from various ministries.

“On May 2, 2023, the Ministry of Women, Youths and Children Affairs received a complaint from the mother of a case of sexually assaulting a child. The resolution of the European Parliament on Myanmar adopted on May 11 stated that it rejects any attempt by the military leaders to legitimise their undemocratic power through sham elections, the military’s regular airstrikes on civilian targets, the dissolution of 40 political parties by the military-appointed Union Election Commission, and the junta’s violent and illegitimate rule. 

The resolution was adopted by 454 votes in favour, 5 against and 39 abstentions.

The discussion in the parliament included condemning Russia and China for their political, economic, and military backing of Myanmar’s junta; calling on the EU to introduce additional targeted sanctions against the military and its business interests, including sanctions on aviation fuel; calling on the EU and its Member States to substantially increase humanitarian aid to the people and refugees of Myanmar, including Rohingya; and significantly increasing support for the National Unity Government and democratic forces.

In addition, there are demands on the terrorist military council to immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners; calls for an immediate end to the unlawful state of emergency and the indiscriminate use of force; the restoration of the civilian government, the re-establishment of a path towards democracy; and the swift opening of parliament with the participation of all elected representatives.
