๐๐ 2. Union Minister Dr. Tu Khine Advocates for Agricultural Land Recovery in Central Myanmar
December 12
Union Minister Dr. Tu Khine emphasized the importance of reclaiming agricultural land in Central Myanmar to prevent its loss. On December 12, he remarked:
“Many abandoned gold mining areas are being converted back into farmland. Since the Spring Revolution, the people of Central Myanmar have faced numerous challenges, including significant job losses. Families have resorted to selling off their farmland to sustain their livelihoods while others rely heavily on natural resources for survival, leading to overexploitation. Therefore, while managing these difficulties, we must avoid excessive restrictions while also maintaining balance. The reclamation of farmland to ensure that fertile lands in Central Myanmar are not lost is vital. Together, we must overcome hardships and restore balance to our current trajectory.”
Dr. Tu Khine recently conducted field visits to conflict-affected regions in Sagaing.

December 12
U Kyaw Zaw, Presidential Spokesperson, stated in an interview in December that the collapse of military dictatorship in Myanmar is inevitable. He said:
“Without external assistance, the people’s revolution has brought the military junta to its knees. Within two to three years, over 90 cities have been liberated, and more than 60% of territories are under complete control of revolutionary forces. While challenges persist, and some countries continue to support the junta, history shows that oppressive regimes eventually fall. This is true of brutal dictatorships around the world, and Myanmar’s military dictatorship will also meet the same fate.”
Currently, the junta has lost control of most cities in Rakhine State, and the Arakan Army has captured high-ranking officers and seized weapons.

Although the World Bank had previously estimated 1% economic growth in its June report, it now highlights that intensifying conflicts and natural disasters have worsened the economic outlook.
Inflation, restrictions on imports, and damages caused by Typhoon Yagi in September, among other challenges, have negatively impacted agricultural production, supply chains, and household livelihoods. The report also noted that unresolved armed conflicts and economic instability continue to hinder Myanmar’s economic recovery and future prospects.
