๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Intense Fighting in Mansi Township: Surrendered Soldiers Raise White Flags

December 28
Heavy fighting continues in Mansi Township, Kachin State, as the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) launches offensives to fully seize remaining junta outposts. Local military sources report that some junta troops have raised white flags and surrendered amid the escalating clashes.

While KIA has reportedly seized some strategic locations in Mansi Township, specific details about the security situation remain undisclosed. A military source confirmed that junta forces attempted a counterattack on a hilltop outpost under the 601st Artillery Battalion, recently captured by KIA, but their efforts were repelled.

On December 25, Christmas Day, KIA successfully captured a critical junta outpost in Mansi. Subsequent junta counterattacks to reclaim the outpost have been unsuccessful. Reports suggest that more junta troops have surrendered with white flags following these clashes.

Simultaneously, fighting continues in Bhamo Township, with clashes ongoing as of December 27, according to military sources in Kachin. KIA initiated its offensive on December 4, aiming to seize Mansi and Bhamo entirely. In Bhamo, KIA forces have captured several junta outposts and are reportedly clearing parts of the town.

Separately, reports emerged that Lieutenant Colonel Aung Nyain Chan, who was responsible for suppressing and killing revolutionary fighters in Yangon, was killed on December 22 during the battles in Mansi Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Fighting Between AA and Military Junta in Sittwe

December 28
Fighting has erupted near the Regional Military Operations Command (RMOC) headquarters in Sittwe, Rakhine State, where junta forces clashed with the Arakan Army (AA). Local sources and military reports confirmed the conflict near Sittwe.

The clashes began on the morning of December 27 when AA attacked the Kyamathauk checkpoint near the RMOC headquarters in Sittwe. Fighting has since spread to nearby villages, including Kyauktan Gyi, Kyamathauk, and Kyauktan Chay. Local news agency Lay Waddy FM reported that both sides engaged in gunfire exchanges, with junta forces using heavy artillery and AA employing small arms.

The Kyamathauk checkpoint, located on the Yangon-Sittwe highway, is reportedly manned by joint forces of the military, police, and local militia. Several houses in nearby villages have been damaged due to the fighting, according to local reports.

AA has maintained control over neighboring areas such as Ponnagyun, Pauktaw, and Rathedaung, effectively surrounding Sittwe. The town is now in a defensive position, as it faces encirclement by AA forces.

The Arakan Army has recently declared that only three townships—Minbya, Kyaukpyu, and Sittwe—remain to be fully secured in Rakhine State. AA also announced that it expects to capture Gwa Township shortly.
