The National Unity Government (NUG) sent a message of congratulations to the Karen New Year celebration on December 30. According to the message, December 30, corresponding to the 1st day of Pyatho (the first month of the Karen calendar year 2764), marks the joyous occasion of the Karen New Year. The NUG extends its heartfelt wishes for peace, safety, and prosperity to Karen national leaders, Karen people living inside Myanmar and abroad, and the Karen revolutionaries who have been steadfast in their struggle.
The message also highlights the traditional customs and cultural practices of the Karen people during the New Year celebration, such as offering the first harvest to ancestral spirits, hosting communal harvest feasts, raising the national flag, playing traditional Karen musical instruments like gongs and buffalo horns, and performing the ceremonial Karen New Year dance. These practices, deeply tied to Karen heritage and national identity, are celebrated in unity and pride, making the New Year a meaningful and jubilant occasion.

The ongoing Spring Revolution reflects a collective aspiration to dismantle the dictatorship, achieve full self-determination, and establish a federal democratic union. The NUG reiterates its commitment to preserving Karen history, language, literature, and cultural heritage while striving to uplift the dignity and pride of the Karen nation.
The message concludes with a call for unity among Karen leaders, communities, and revolutionaries to collaborate with allied ethnic revolutionary forces, maintaining momentum in the fight against military dictatorship until its complete eradication.
