๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Military Destroys Bridge Connecting Villages in Dawei Township

December 8
A bridge connecting villages in Maung Maung Shaung village tract, Dawei Township, was reportedly destroyed by junta forces conducting a military operation in the area. Local reports state that the Kang Khone Bridge was dismantled on the afternoon of December 7. According to residents and ground-level resistance sources cited by the Dawei Watch news outlet, the bridge was a 155-foot-long steel-truss structure with wooden decking, built in July 2018 to replace a concrete bridge that collapsed due to heavy rainfall.

Witnesses say the military removed the wooden planks, burned them, and detonated the steel trusses serving as the foundation. A displaced villager confirmed the destruction. This bridge was critical for travel between Maung Maung Shaung and Yae Wine villages along the Union Highway. Villagers reportedly worked together to repair the wooden decking during the summer of this year.

The ongoing military operation targeting Yae Wine village has caused widespread displacement. Residents from Maung Maung Shaung, Yae Aye, Padaing Chaung, Kang Khone, Pakhat Inn, Khawng Taing Pin, Pakhari, and Hmaingyi village tracts have fled their homes.

Since early 2023, the junta has maintained a presence in Maung Maung Shaung village tract. Over the past five months, the military has destroyed three bridges in the area: one in the east of the village tract in August, another railway bridge over Than Ban Chaung in September, and most recently, the Kang Khone Bridge.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Junta Confiscates Electricity Meters from Non-Payers in Shwebo

December 8
Residents of Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, report that junta forces, including soldiers, police, and EPC (Electricity Power Corporation) staff, have been forcibly confiscating electricity meters from households that have failed to pay their bills. The Shwebo Township True News Reporting Team confirmed that the meter seizures occurred on December 6 in urban areas of Shwebo.

Officials reportedly conduct inspections street by street, removing meters from homes with unpaid electricity bills. Junta-aligned EPC staff and enforcement personnel have issued threats, stating the operation will continue.

Despite their inability to provide reliable electricity, the junta has doubled residential electricity rates and tripled business rates. Non-payers face legal action, while instances of forced meter confiscation have been reported in other townships as well.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. Caution Issued for Civilian Drivers Along Shwebo-Mandalay Route

December 8
Resistance forces in Sagaing Region have warned civilians traveling along the Shwebo-Mandalay route to drive with caution. This comes in response to junta troops using various vehicles, including civilian-like ones, for transporting supplies and personnel.

The junta has reportedly disguised its movements by using private vehicles, ambulances from charitable organizations, and even vehicles used by monks. Civilians are urged to close their windows and avoid drawing attention while driving to minimize risks.

Military convoys have also been observed using civilian cargo trucks. Resistance forces recommend cargo drivers avoid unnecessary tarpaulin covers and ensure their loads are visible to reduce suspicion.

On the morning of December 8, artillery fire was reported from Light Infantry Battalion 42 in Shwebo, targeting areas west of the town. Civilians have been advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. 42 Clashes in a Week in Southern Command; Over 60 Junta Soldiers Killed

December 8
The National Unity Government's Ministry of Defense has reported 42 clashes in the southern military region within a week, resulting in the deaths of over 60 junta soldiers. The announcement, made on December 8, highlights the ongoing operations conducted by the People's Defense Force (PDF) and allied groups in the region.

The clashes, which occurred between November 30 and December 6, involved coordinated attacks on junta bases and columns. Confirmed fatalities include 61 junta soldiers. Notable engagements occurred on December 3 and 4, when PDF and KNLA forces captured strategic bases at Taung Thon Lone and Sin Swe, which are key to controlling transport routes in the area.

The capture of these bases yielded weapons and ammunition. While some junta troops managed to escape, clearance operations in the area are ongoing.

Despite these successes, the resistance forces mourned the loss of two comrades during the operations.
