"We stand with the people of Syria for freedom, peace, justice, and an inclusive society. The era of dictatorships is over," he declared.
Currently, Damascus has fallen into the hands of revolutionary forces, and the authoritarian leader Bashar al-Assad has fled the city.

Union Minister for International Cooperation, Dr. Sasa, met with Myanmar nationals residing in Maryland during an event organized in the U.S. city of Maryland. The meeting, held on December 7 (local time), was attended by Union Ministers Dr. Sasa and U Tin Hlaing Aung, along with Deputy Ministers U Min Zeya Oo from the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment, and U Moe Zaw Oo from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event featured traditional cultural performances organized by the group "Women for Myanmar," while Dr. Sasa sang revolutionary songs to inspire the attendees. Union Minister U Tin Hlaing Aung highlighted the dedication of intellectuals like Dr. Sasa and Dr. Zaw Win Soe, who have been part of the revolution since its inception, recalling how revolutionary songs were sung even during imprisonment.
He emphasized, "We strive together to ensure that revolutionary songs can be sung freely not only at events like this but also in Yangon, Mandalay, Naypyidaw, and Magway."
Dr. Sasa also addressed future strategic plans for Myanmar and expressed gratitude for the support from U.S. government officials and lawmakers.

Union Minister U Aung Myo Min declared on December 9 via social media that despite ongoing aerial and ground attacks, the people’s aspirations for human rights remain undeterred.
"Even in the presence of air and ground assaults, the people's desire for human rights cannot be suppressed. Revolutionary movements and awareness campaigns for Human Rights Day are being conducted securely on the ground, showcasing the people's determination and resilience," he stated.

H.E. Ranieri Sabatucci, EU Ambassador to Myanmar, announced on December 9 that the European Union, in collaboration with partner organizations, has pledged €10 million starting in 2025 to address gender-based violence (GBV) in Myanmar.
As the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV campaign concluded, the EU recognized the courage and resilience of survivors and those working to eliminate GBV. "Gender-based violence is a violation of human rights that impacts society globally, including Myanmar. This campaign is not just about raising awareness but also calls for action, solidarity, and justice," the Ambassador said.

The Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) announced on December 9 that it has provided additional evidence to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the Rohingya genocide case filed by The Gambia.
The IIMM shared verified data and analyses to ensure that the ICJ judges have access to the most comprehensive information to deliver a just verdict regarding the 2017 atrocities against the Rohingya people.

At least 18 political prisoners sustained injuries, and 5 were subjected to solitary confinement, following unlawful beatings by officials at Myanmar’s National Prisons Department in 2024, according to a December 9 report from the Political Prisoners Network of Myanmar (PPNM).
Since the military coup, over 27,797 individuals have been arrested, with 21,234 still in custody, including 9,598 sentenced to prison terms.
