📌📌 1. Meeting Between the Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG) Duwa Lashi La and the European Union's Special Envoy

The Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG), Duwa Lashi La, held discussions with the European Union's (EU) Special Envoy, as announced by the Acting President himself via Twitter in January.
"We had meaningful discussions with the EU Special Envoy regarding the successes and challenges of our revolution. Together, we explored ways the EU and the international community can support Myanmar's journey toward a federal democracy. We are united in our efforts for freedom and justice," said the Acting President.
Previously, Duwa Lashi La and the EU’s Special Envoy for Myanmar, Igor Driesmans, had also met virtually on March 9, 2023, for about an hour and a half. They later met again on November 27, 2023.

📌 2. Meeting Between Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Union Minister Dr. Sasa

Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of the Ministry of International Cooperation, announced in January that he met with Australia’s 28th Prime Minister, Tony Abbott.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to meet with Tony Abbott, Australia’s 28th Prime Minister," said Dr. Sasa. He added that he hopes to witness robust and strategic relations between Australia and Myanmar, driven by Myanmar’s courageous legitimate representatives.

📌 3. NUG's Ministry of Human Rights: Systematic Documentation of Rights Violations Aligned with 2024 Strategic Goals

The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Human Rights announced on January 13 that it successfully documented human rights violations in alignment with its four strategic goals for 2024.
Since its establishment, the Ministry of Human Rights has systematically recorded human rights violations perpetrated by the oppressive military regime. In addition, it has strived to ensure justice, peace, and equality for the entire population.
During 2024, a total of 7,394 cases of human rights violations were recorded, of which 1,228 cases were verified. The ministry also undertook international advocacy for justice, aligned NUG’s policies with human rights standards, and conducted educational initiatives on human rights.

📌 4. NUG’s Ministry of Labour: Grassroots Efforts Continue Nationwide

The Ministry of Labour of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on January 13 that it continues implementing grassroots programs to create employment opportunities and generate sustainable income for the people.
As part of these efforts, the Ministry recently distributed poultry feed to 40 households engaged in chicken farming across two villages in Sagaing Region on January 12, 2025. The initiative is part of broader measures aimed at addressing economic challenges and ensuring livelihood stability.
Furthermore, the ministry is actively addressing the concerns of Myanmar migrant workers abroad.

📌 5. Additional News Highlights

Landslide in Kachin State: Nearly 50 homes were submerged after a tailings dam burst at a jade mine in Sabaung Village, Hpakant Township, early morning on January 13, according to local sources. Authorities are still verifying the casualties and missing persons. Hpakant is known for frequent landslides and associated fatalities.
Iron Supplement Shortage in Kanbalu Township: Kanbalu Township is facing a shortage of over 20,000 iron supplement tablets required for children under its biannual deworming program. Local activist Pyay Aung Naing stated that the price of each tablet ranges from 400 to 500 kyats, and efforts are underway to secure the needed supplies. The program has been running for four years.
Aid for War-Displaced in Monywa Township: On January 7, members of the People's Defense Force (PDF) and affiliated groups, including Spring Women and Thway Chin Nyi Ma (Blood Siblings), distributed food, winter clothing, and blankets to displaced civilians in Monywa Township. In addition to military operations, PDF groups are also engaged in humanitarian relief efforts.
