๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Interim President Emphasizes the Importance of Providing Shelter to Those Seeking Refuge Amid the Effort to Dismantle the Military Junta’s Pillars and Overthrow Dictatorship

January 15
Interim President Duwa Lashi La stated during the January 14 government meeting that providing shelter to those seeking refuge plays a crucial role in dismantling the military junta's pillars and the journey toward overthrowing the dictatorship.

In his New Year’s message, the Interim President had invited soldiers serving under the military junta to seek refuge among the people. He reiterated that this effort to shelter those who defect is essential in undermining the junta's foundation and accelerating the journey to ending the dictatorship. He urged effective actions to support this cause.

According to the National Unity Government (NUG), under the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, People's Defense Force (PDF) battalions coordinated with those willing to defect. In November 2024, 33 military personnel, including one officer with the rank of major, defected from the junta to stand with the people.

Similarly, in the first two weeks of January 2025, another 29 military and police personnel reached out to PDF battalions under the NUG’s Ministry of Defense, seeking refuge and alignment with the people’s side.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Taungtha Township Restricts Road Usage Amid Escalating Military Tensions

January 15
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, has imposed restrictions on road usage within the township and neighboring areas, starting January 14.

The measure is a precautionary response to heightened military tensions. Junta forces have reportedly used civilian and cargo vehicles, including Faw trucks, prompting the restriction.

Residents traveling within and between affected areas have been urged to minimize unnecessary travel. Restricted roads include the Taungtha-Myingyan route, Taungtha-Wailon-Kyaukpandaung route, Taungtha-Mahlaing route, Taungtha-Ronezin-Mahlaing route, Taungtha-Nwathoke route, and inter-village roads.

Vehicles are banned from operating between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. For emergencies, vehicles must have their lights on and windows down.

Heavy trucks are advised to avoid using weather covers to ensure transparency for public safety.

Failure to comply with these regulations will be the sole responsibility of violators, the PDF warned.

Given the evolving revolutionary conditions in 2025, residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel and prepare bomb shelters near their residences in case of aerial attacks.

On January 13, revolutionary forces attacked junta troops stationed at Taungtha High School No. 1, killing around 10 soldiers and seizing an MA-1 rifle and ammunition. Additionally, during battles on January 11 and 12 in Narn Myint Taung, over 30 junta soldiers were killed, and revolutionary forces seized 14 weapons, including a drone shooter and a Faw truck.
