๐๐ 1. Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe Vows to Seek Justice for 134 Healthcare Workers Who Sacrificed Their Lives in the Revolution

The Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, in an exclusive interview with senior journalist U Khin Maung Soe, stated that 134 healthcare workers have lost their lives in the history of the revolution and emphasized his commitment to seeking justice for them.
"In the history of our revolution, a total of 134 healthcare workers have sacrificed their lives. I will never forget their contributions, and we will never be complacent. I want to assure everyone that we will seek justice for them. Additionally, it is essential for all of us to remain vigilant regarding incidents of this nature," the minister remarked.
On January 25, in Kyaukme Township, the military junta carried out an aerial bombing on a public hospital without any prior conflict in the area. The attack resulted in the deaths of a CDM nurse, a CDM administrative staff member, and one civilian—three casualties in total. Over 20 individuals, including healthcare workers, CDM staff, and patients, were injured.

๐๐ 2. Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun Expresses People's Deep Frustration over Lack of Effective Action by the UN Security Council

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun conveyed that Myanmar's people are deeply disheartened by the United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) failure to take effective actions regarding Myanmar’s crisis.
In a media briefing regarding Myanmar's situation, the ambassador said:
"The people of Myanmar, including myself, have consistently and strongly called for the international community, including the United Nations, to assist us during this challenging time. Initially, the people had deep faith that the UN, in line with its commitments, would genuinely protect their lives, homes, and peace. However, as time went by, it became evident that the Security Council repeatedly failed to implement effective measures, causing the people's trust and hopes to gradually fade away."
It was noted that while Resolution 2669 on Myanmar was adopted by the UNSC, there has been no tangible implementation of the decisions outlined in it.

The National Unity Government (NUG) convened a meeting on January 31 between the Interim Central Committee for Public Administration and public administration groups from Yangon Region (1/2025).
The meeting opened with a speech from a secretary member of the Interim Central Committee and a permanent secretary from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Participants, including members of public administration groups, discussed administrative cooperation efforts and sought clarification on various operational issues. Ministry officials responded to these questions during the session.
The meeting was attended by permanent secretaries, deputy secretaries, associate secretaries, departmental officials, and public administration members from Yangon townships. The session concluded at 1:00 p.m.

In a statement marking the fourth anniversary of Myanmar's military coup, Tom Andrews, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Myanmar, emphasized the urgent need for genuine international cooperation to support the Myanmar people.
He described this period as a tragic and heartbreaking time due to the countless innocent lives lost as a result of military atrocities.
"It is time for genuine collaboration to help Myanmar's people put an end to this nightmare," Andrews stated.
He further urged the international community to cut off arms supplies and financial flows to the military junta.

๐๐ 5. Emergency Period Extended by Military Leader, Citing Pending Preparations for Elections

On the morning of January 31, during a meeting of the National Defense and Security Council, it was decided to extend the state of emergency for another six months.
Military leader Min Aung Hlaing justified the extension by citing the need for continued preparations for elections.
He stated:
“To ensure that the general election will be held freely, fairly, and securely, stability is still essential. We need to persist with ongoing tasks without interruption. Hence, I have proposed an extension of our duty for an additional six months.”
According to the 2008 military-drafted Constitution, the state of emergency can only be extended twice for six months each, under Articles 421 and 425. However, the military has repeatedly extended this period.

๐๐ 6. Despite Military Presence, Drug Trafficking and Abuse on the Rise in Myitkyina's Rampu Neighborhood

Drug trafficking and usage are reportedly escalating in the backstreets of Rampu neighborhood, Myitkyina, despite the presence of soldiers stationed in the area. The 74 Media reported frequent instances of robberies alongside public drug sales and usage, with users visibly gathering in groups or even collapsing in the streets.
In Zone 23 of the Rampu neighborhood, drug activities are particularly prevalent from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the largest gatherings observed around 3 p.m.
Drug sales and consumption have reportedly persisted openly for approximately three years, despite numerous complaints lodged by local residents with the authorities.
Residents revealed that despite the arrival of military vehicles and the stationing of soldiers, drug dealers and users continue their operations undeterred.
The surge in drug activities has led to an increase in thefts and other crimes, rendering the neighborhood unsafe.
In 2024, local residents had collaboratively attempted to crack down on drug activities. However, one incident saw drug abusers violently attack a respected community elder with stones, resulting in the loss of one of his eyes.
