๐๐ 1. The Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology Presents Updates at Regular CRPH Coordination Meeting

On Friday, January 17, 2025, at 7 PM, the National Unity Government's (NUG) Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology participated in the third regular coordination meeting of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) for 2025. The ministry provided an update on its current operations, upcoming initiatives, and potential collaborative opportunities via a video conference, as announced by the CRPH.
During the meeting, CRPH Secretary Daw Phyu Phyu Thin delivered the opening remarks, followed by Union Minister U Htin Lin Aung presenting details on key initiatives undertaken by the ministry. These included updates on Radio NUG’s operations, the activities of the Bureau of Strategic Communications (BOSC), progress on the deployment and utilization of independent communication towers, Federal Net initiatives, internet accessibility, and collaborations with revolutionary alliance groups.
Additionally, CRPH committee members discussed communication-related concerns and ground realities. The meeting concluded at 8:30 PM.
Attendees included CRPH secretaries Daw Phyu Phyu Thin, U Tun Myint, and Mine La Min Tun, along with members of other subcommittees, Union Minister U Htin Lin Aung, and key officials from NUG's Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology.

๐๐ 2. TLEC Hosts Unity Ceremony and Award Event in Man Aung Village, Namkham Township

In Ta'ang Region, Namkham Township’s Man Aung Village, the Ta'ang Land Education Council (TLEC) hosted a Unity Ceremony and Award Event on January 16, 2025, according to a statement released by the PSLF/TNLA.
The event began at 9:00 AM and featured opening remarks by TLEC officials, PSLF/TNLA departmental representatives, and village leaders. Following the speeches, awards were presented to students, including 1 award for outstanding moral character, 44 awards for academic excellence, and 33 awards for outstanding achievements in ethnic literature. Additionally, entertainment performances, such as traditional dances, were conducted by students.
The event was attended by over 1,000 participants, including TLEC officials, PSLF/TNLA representatives, teachers, parents, villagers, and students.

๐๐ 3. Dr. Saw Simon Thar, Karen Peacemaker and Founding Doctor of Insein’s Kwel Kabar Hospital, Passes Away

On January 18, 2025, at 8:15 PM (US Eastern Standard Time), renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Saw Simon Thar passed away peacefully in Christ in Maryland, United States, at the age of 83. Dr. Saw was instrumental in facilitating peace talks between the Karen National Union (KNU) and the Myanmar military regime (NAF), and was the founding figure of Kwel Kabar Hospital in Yangon’s Insein Township.
His passing marks a significant loss for Myanmar's medical community, as expressed by many on social media.
Born on September 7, 1942, in Hinthada, Dr. Saw graduated with an MBBS in 1967, earned a surgical specialty degree in 1976, and obtained fellowship credentials from Edinburgh and Glasgow’s Royal Colleges in the early 1980s. He further specialized in neurosurgery in Paris in 1995. He held prominent positions, such as Head of Neurosurgery and Myanmar representative for the Southeast Asian Neurosurgical Society, and received a distinguished leadership award from a US-based biological organization.
Dr. Saw played a pivotal role in the 2002–2003 peace negotiations between the NAF and KNU. He closely cared for General Bo Mya during his illness and provided medical support to post-Cyclone Nargis-affected areas, including Bogale, Pathein, and Taungoo. He was also active in the health sector of Karen regions for over six months.

๐๐ 4. Four Mon Forces Unite to Form the “Ramanya Joint Military Column”

Four Mon revolutionary forces have announced the formation of a “Ramanya Joint Military Column” to enhance cooperative military operations. This decision was made during a meeting held on January 17, 2025, in a liberated area of Mon State.
The forces involved include the Mon Liberation Army (MLA), the Mon National Liberation Army-AD (MNLA-AD), the Mon State Defense Force (MSDF), and the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF). The statement revealed that the joint column will carry out unified operations moving forward.
These Mon forces emerged during the Spring Revolution with the long-term goal of consolidating into a unified Mon military force. On December 19, 2024, they reached an agreement to work toward this aim. The four forces have also been cooperating with allied revolutionary groups in their respective territories to resist the SAC regime.
