The NUG Foreign Ministry has recently engaged in discussions concerning Myanmar’s situation with officials from the United States, Germany, France, the European Union headquarters in Brussels, South Korea, and Australia. Ethnic revolutionary groups also participated in these diplomatic engagements.

Additionally, the Minister reiterated the NUG’s strong political commitment to combating human trafficking.

"Since October 2023, we have formed a special task force to tackle transborder organized crimes," Daw Zin Mar Aung stated. "This issue remains a priority for us despite our current revolutionary struggle and limitations in both human and financial resources."

She further emphasized the NUG's ongoing efforts to safeguard refugees found in areas controlled by ethnic revolutionary forces and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF). In some cases, refugees have been repatriated to their home countries through cooperation with relevant foreign embassies.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Singapore’s Interra Resources Sold 2 Million Barrels of Oil Worth $150 Million to the Junta, Says JFM

January 29

Justice for Myanmar (JFM) revealed today, January 29, that Singapore-listed Interra Resources sold 2 million barrels of oil worth $150 million to the military junta.

Following the unlawful coup in February 2021, the company reportedly supported the junta by supplying fuel essential for its brutal military operations.

It was disclosed that Interra Resources Limited holds a 60% stake in Goldpetrol Joint Operating Company Inc., which supplied approximately 2.3 million barrels of crude oil to Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) between January 2021 and the end of 2023.

The extracted crude oil came from Goldpetrol's inland oil fields in Chauk and Yenangyaung, located in Magway Region.

Finance Uncovered, a UK-based investigative journalism group, along with JFM, examined confidential financial reports revealing that Interra Resources earned over USD 55 million from its operations in Myanmar during that period.

The crude oil extracted from Chauk and Yenangyaung was reportedly refined at the Mann Thanbayakan Refinery, which operates under the military-controlled Ministry of Energy.

The junta, facing international sanctions targeting its supply chains for aviation fuel, has reportedly made desperate attempts to secure fuel to sustain its brutal crackdown on civilians.

According to JFM, the Mann Oil Refinery produces diesel and aviation fuel needed to operate aircraft, trucks, and tanks used in military operations against civilians.

Justice for Myanmar has called on Interra Resources to immediately cease oil sales to the military junta. They urged the Singapore Stock Exchange to take regulatory action against the company for continuing business dealings with a sanctioned entity and abetting the junta’s ongoing international crimes.

Additionally, JFM has appealed to international governments to impose coordinated sanctions on MOGE, MPE (Myanmar Petrochemical Enterprise), and military-controlled banks involved in facilitating transactions between MOGE and Interra Resources.
