๐๐ 1. The National Unity Government Contributed 29% to the Total Revenue of the Karenni State Interim Government (IEC)

On February 10, in the release of the 2024 annual activities report by the Karenni State Interim Government (IEC), it was revealed that the National Unity Government (NUG) contributed 29% to the total revenue of the IEC. In 2024, the revenue reached over 5.6 billion Kyats (5,647,928,462), with most of the income derived from domestic tax revenues. The breakdown of the revenue sources is as follows: 31% from domestic taxes, 28% from international organizations, 29% from the National Unity Government, and 12% from other sources. The funds were primarily allocated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction, and the Ministry of Health. Additionally, the report highlighted that 34 projects were successfully completed in 2024, including 22 roads and bridges, 1 dam and irrigation system, 2 mine clearance operations, 1 office renovation, and 8 departmental projects.

The Ministry of Defense clarified on February 10 that the documents circulating on social media concerning an internal affair were fake. Following an announcement on February 9 that Major General U Naing Htoo Aung had resigned from his position within the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of the National Unity Government (NUG), fabricated news started to spread. The fake documents included accusations against U Naing Htoo Aung related to seeking funding for the Ministry of Defense.

๐๐ 3. U Naing Htoo Aung Responds to Speculations about His Resignation, Explaining the Reason is to Focus on Political and Revolutionary Matters

U Naing Htoo Aung responded on February 10, explaining that his resignation from the Ministry of Defense was to allow him to focus more on political matters and revolutionary strategy analysis. "As for my resignation, I wanted to concentrate more on political matters and revolutionary strategy analysis. I have always been a politician. According to the needs of the revolution, I have fulfilled my responsibilities to the best of my abilities. Due to the heavy daily management tasks, I couldn't devote enough time to other matters, which is why I decided to step down to dedicate more time. Some people have made speculations, claiming I left due to talks with the military. This is not true. It has nothing to do with financial matters. There is absolutely no connection. I am fully committed to my responsibilities, and there is no reason for me to flee," he explained.
U Naing Htoo Aung was a representative of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in the 2015 and 2020 general elections for the Nwahto Gyi constituency and served as a permanent member of the NUG Ministry of Defense after the military coup in 2021.

๐๐ 4. The Judicial Department of the Interim Executive Committee (IEC) Completed 72 Out of 112 Cases and Provided Advice on Four Draft Laws in 2024

In the 2024 annual report from the Judicial Department of the Karenni State Interim Executive Committee (IEC), it was revealed that 72 out of 112 cases, including murder, homicide, theft, anti-terrorism laws, narcotics and mind-altering substances laws, assault, and treason, have been completed. The report also indicated that there are 40 cases still pending.
The IEC's prison system holds a total of 230 inmates.
Additionally, in the drafting and review of legislation, the Judicial Department was able to provide advice on four key draft laws: the Karenni Interim Judiciary Law, the Karenni State Police Law, the Karenni Interim Parliament Law, and the draft law for the protection of women in Karenni State from violence.

๐๐ 5. 16 Townships in Karenni State Established Township-Level Administrative Committees in 2024

In the 2024 annual report, the Karenni State Interim Executive Committee (IEC) announced that township-level administrative committees were formed in 16 townships, including Hupaw, Kaylar, Demoso (East), Phwun Baw Kwet, Samo/Fesole, Hoya, Sotsha, Luinnanf, Dibong Khu, Nanma Khon, Maese, Paw Wah, Baw Hoo De, Lomukhaw, Ywa Thit, and Phe Kohn.
In addition, police stations were set up in five townships, and 16 security and police posts were established. The IEC also managed 25 cases related to the military council, including murders, assaults, thefts, and drug offenses, with a total of 149 criminal cases handled.
The fire department successfully extinguished two fires and provided water supply to 60 displaced persons camps.
The emergency rescue department saved 50 civilians and 520 revolutionaries over the course of the year.
Regarding immigration control, the department efficiently regulated the movements of residents within the state, monitored illegal migrations, and maintained strict control over foreign nationals, along with collecting population data from 17 townships.

๐๐ 6. No Direction from the Central Committee Regarding the Repair of Mude U at the Entrance of Thipaw Town; Work Continues as Initially Planned

The Shan civilian organization criticized the repairs being made to Mude U at the entrance of Thipaw Town, and Lwe Yae Oo, a spokesperson for the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), clarified that the central committee had not given any directive in this regard.
The work is being carried out by the township’s development committee, which is restoring the original structure without any interference from the central authority.
"We are managing it to promote the development of the township, and there has been no guidance from the central committee on this. At present, we are just restoring it to its original form," said Lwe Yae Oo.

๐๐ 7. Over 30 MOU Workers Sent to Thailand Protested in Front of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok Due to Breaches of Agreement

Over 30 MOU workers, sent to Thailand by the Sey A Ka Agency under the MOU system, gathered in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok, demanding resolution of issues related to the breach of contract terms.
Each worker paid over 60,000 kyats in agency fees to enter Thailand through the MOU system. However, after arriving in Chonburi Province, they found that they had only worked about 30 days in the three months they were there. For the remaining days, they did not receive 75% of the compensation as stipulated, and they have faced breaches of the MOU terms.
The news was reported by Radio NUG correspondents Min Thihan, Min Sitt Thway, and Khur Shel.
