The Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government (NUG) expresses its steadfast commitment to working hand in hand with Kachin nationals and all ethnic brethren to abolish the military dictatorship and establish a Federal Democratic Union. With sincere and inclusive cooperation, the Ministry pledges to actively engage in these initiatives. This statement was conveyed in a message of solidarity issued on February 5 to commemorate the 64th Kachin Revolution Day.
The Ministry also honors the brave Kachin revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives and well-being during the revolution spanning over 60 years. Special recognition and respect were given to the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) for their leadership roles in Myanmar's ongoing Spring Revolution.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. "Don't Seek Peace on the Battlefield," KIO Chairman Tells the Military Junta Leader

In a speech delivered on February 5 to mark Kachin Revolution Day, KIO/KIA Chairman General N'Ban La addressed Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the coup regime, and other SAC officials, urging them to abandon their approach of seeking peace through military conflict. He emphasized, "Do not attempt to find peace for the country on the battlefield."
The Chairman further stressed that the power currently seized by the junta should be utilized to restore peace and stability for the nation.
Additionally, he advised political parties to genuinely represent the people's interests and maintain firm political stances that prioritize their welfare. He urged those political parties aligned with the junta to reconsider their positions to avoid collapsing alongside the dictatorship.
Observing rising disputes over land among revolutionary groups in northern Shan State, the Chairman warned against infighting. "Comrades, it is vital to defeat the military dictatorship. Mutual support and collaboration among revolutionary forces are essential. We must resolve potential disputes through timely political dialogue and maintain mutual respect while fighting the common enemy," he emphasized.
He concluded by encouraging Kachin revolutionaries to persist in their struggle, expressing confidence that victory is imminent.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 3. Kachin Revolution Day Commemoration Held at Than Ngo Mountain in Memory of GOC Zau Seng and Fallen Comrades

A memorial event for the 64th Kachin Revolution Day was held at Than Ngo Mountain in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of the assassination of GOC Zau Seng and four other KIA members at the same location.
Previously a KIA base, the site hosted the gathering, where Kachin nationals from Thailand and around 300 participants from Myanmar attended.
The Than Ngo Mountain base was established in 1966 for foreign relations and arms procurement. A commemorative stone inscribed in Kachin and English stands at the site, marking the August 6 and 10, 1975 events when GOC Zau Seng and his comrades were assassinated. The Kachin national flag still flies proudly there.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Civilian Casualties Reported Following Junta Attacks in Laidaw Township

The Karen National Union (KNU) reported that junta attacks in the Laidaw area of Khalehlyu District, Kawthoolei, resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to two others.
On February 3, heavy artillery fired from Light Infantry Battalion 264 (LIB 264) stationed at Pein Zoloup struck Alai Village, killing a 16-year-old girl and damaging two houses.
Earlier, on February 2, junta forces dropped three bombs via drones on Kha Ngyin Kyoe Village, wounding a 52-year-old woman and destroying four homes.
On February 4, at 9 a.m., artillery shells fired from LIB 264 hit Taung Khin Village, wounding a 60-year-old man named U Zin and damaging the local monastery.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Junta Airstrikes Injure Monk and Civilian; Store Owned by Former Senior Officer Bombed

The junta conducted an airstrike on Yonsi Gyi Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, injuring a monk and a civilian.
The attack occurred on February 3 in the late afternoon, damaging a two-story school building and a fire station near a general store named "Wai Gyi."
The Wai Gyi store was reportedly owned by retired Colonel Kyaw Kyaw Oo, a former candidate for the Tanintharyi Region Commander, and his brother U Lwin Lwin, Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Commission in Naypyidaw.
The explosion also destroyed two homes and two vehicles used by monks from the nearby monastery.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. A Civilian Killed in Bura Taung Lwalnwe Village by Heavy Shelling from SAC-Aligned PNA Forces in Inle Region

It has been reported that the SAC-aligned PNA (Transformed Pa-O National Army) shelled Bura Taung Lwalnwe Village in the Inle region, Nyaungshwe Township, Shan State, resulting in the death of one civilian and injuries to two others.
The shelling reportedly occurred at 7:13 a.m. on February 5, when the SAC forces and the PNA fired heavy artillery from the Thitpin Kaung area, west of Phe Khon, deliberately targeting the village.
Due to the explosion of the shells, a 74-year-old man was killed, while two women aged 48 and 27 sustained injuries.
Furthermore, at around 8:40 a.m., the Bura Taung Lwalnwe village's Zay Kone refugee camp was targeted with additional shelling, killing a 44-year-old man and injuring four men and one woman.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 7. Four Forced SAC Soldiers Defect to KNLA Battalion 9 with Weapons

According to a statement from the central office of the Karen National Union (KNU), on February 4, four soldiers from SAC’s Infantry Battalion 584, including Deputy Sergeant Nyi Nyi Lwin, defected to KNLA Battalion 9 in Leiktho Township, Nyaunglebin District. The defectors included soldiers Min Win, Myo Min Thet, and Saw Aye Phre.
The four defectors, reportedly forced into military service by the coup regime without their consent, carried weapons, including one MA-4 launcher, two MA-1 rifles, 75 rounds of ammunition, and three magazines.
Upon surrender, each defector was awarded 1 million Myanmar Kyat by Leiktho township and Battalion 9 officials in recognition of their decision.
The KNU has encouraged other SAC soldiers, who have been forcibly conscripted, to surrender to nearby ethnic revolutionary forces or People's Defense Forces (PDFs) using any means possible.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 8. Two People's Militia Members Defect to Shwebo Pa Ka Pha from Nyaung Kaing Pyu Camp

The Shwebo Pa Ka Pha in Sagaing Region reported that two People's Militia members from Nyaung Kaing Pyu Village in Shwebo Township, District 3, surrendered with weapons.
On January 30, one militia member defected, carrying a carbine rifle, two magazines, 180 carbine rounds, and a hand grenade.
Similarly, on February 2, another militia member surrendered with one carbine rifle, three magazines, and 154 carbine rounds.
Both defectors were reportedly given appropriate financial rewards and humanely treated in accordance with human rights norms.
The announcement indicated that more defections are expected and urged SAC forces and militia members to defect as soon as possible. Leaflets titled "It’s Time to Raise the White Flag" have reportedly been distributed via drones, inviting more surrenders.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 9. KPDF (Hopin) and Bissano People's Defense Forces Recruiting New Fighters

The Kachin Region People’s Defense Force (KPDF) based in Hopin and the Bissano People's Defense Force (PDF) in Taunggyi Township announced ongoing recruitment for new fighters.
The KPDF (Hopin) provided a list of nine rules for new recruits, who must be at least 18 years old, physically fit, and able to withstand hardship. The force extended a warm invitation to new members.
It was announced that prospective members can contact KPDF through its official page messenger or the communication department at 09-349031114.
Similarly, Bissano PDF stated that it is recruiting able-bodied individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who can endure the revolutionary hardships and serve without complaint.
Assignments will be made based on qualifications and skills, ranging from combat roles to medical, administrative, and logistics positions. A minimum service period of two years is required.
New recruits can register via the Bissano Battalion-3 page messenger.
