1. The Union Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Mahn Win Khaing Than sent a message to the International Women's Day, which falls on March 8. The theme for International Women’s Day is “All women and Girls; Rights, Equality, Empowerment.” The message emphasizes that on International Women’s Day, we should honor the women in Myanmar who have endured oppression by the military junta and are resisting in various ways. 2025 is also the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which aims to effectively and widely implement the rights of women and girls. Thirty years later, some progress has been made, but gender-based violence, economic inequality, and political underrepresentation persist worldwide. The message affirmed that the National Unity Government is working tirelessly to establish and implement policies that respect and value the rights of women and girls and allow them to be more represented in politics.

2. The National Unity Government has issued a statement and appeal regarding land disputes between the KIO/KIA and the PSLF/TNLA in the northern Shan state on March 14. Land disputes in northern Shan State are raising concerns among locals and Spring Revolution supporters. The National Unity Government welcomes the leaders' commitment to resolving these conflicts politically, recognizing their responsibility to address public anxieties. Emphasizing the responsibility of revolutionary groups to address public concerns, the NUG expressed confidence in the leaders' ability to de-escalate grassroots friction, prevent ethnic animosity, and facilitate resolution through direct negotiation. The upcoming central-level talks and commitment to seeking public consent are positive steps towards a people-oriented resolution, which the National Unity Government welcomes. As people-focused revolutionary organizations, we can only achieve a federal democratic union by overcoming current challenges. We respectfully request the National Unity Government's support in peacefully resolving political issues through political means.

3. The Union Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government, Daw Zin Mar Aung told VOA News earlier this month that the NUG had sent a letter to the Russian government. The letter stated that the NUG could not guarantee the future of agreements made between Russia and the military junta, emphasizing that the NUG was closely monitoring prior visits, signed agreements, and the feasibility of discussions. The Union Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung stated that agreements with the Russian government and the military junta, led by Min Aung Hlaing (a wanted terrorist leader), are unsafe and lack future guarantees, particularly under a civilian government.

4. The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw- CRPH and National Unity Government officials met online with South Korean lawmaker Gang Eee Lee on March 5, to discuss ongoing collaboration regarding Myanmar refugees and migrant workers in Thailand. The meeting reviewed the strengths and weaknesses of the Korea-Thailand-Myanmar Global Forum on Promoting Rights and Economic Opportunities for Myanmar Refugees in Mae Sot, held on January 30, 2025, and participants offered suggestions for future program activities. In addition, the CRPH Labor Affairs Committee Chairman and Deputy Minister of Labor of the National Unity Government, along with officials, addressed the challenges faced by Myanmar refugees and migrant workers in Thailand. Discussions covered difficulties obtaining documents and maintaining legal status, the extradition of arrested individuals to the military junta and their subsequent forced conscription, and obstacles to education for young Myanmar people in Thailand. They appealed to the international community, including South Korea and Thailand, to enhance aid and support for vulnerable Myanmar citizens. Attendees included CRPH members, Labor Affairs committee leaders, Ministry of Labor officials, South Korean representatives, border-based migrant aid groups, and South Korean civil society organizations.

5. Justice For Myanmar welcomes Switzerland's imposition of sanctions on the junta-controlled Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE). The sanctions follow European Union (EU) sanctions on MOGE imposed on February 21, 2022. Justice For Myanmar spokesperson Yadanar Maung says, we welcome Switzerland’s decision to finally sanction MOGE, aligning with EU sanctions on Myanmar. This closes an important loophole in EU sanctions and sends a message of solidarity with the people of Myanmar, who have been struggling for democracy against a brutal junta for more than four years. The junta uses gas revenues to buy the arms and aviation fuel it needs to sustain its indiscriminate airstrikes and shelling against civilians, which amount to international crimes. We call on Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia to follow Switzerland and swiftly impose sanctions on MOGE.
