๐๐ 1. Interim President Stresses the Pao National Forces’ Key Role in the Revolution
March 13
During the struggle to overthrow the military dictatorship, Pao national forces have been actively participating, and their role remains crucial in this endeavor, said Interim President Duwa Lashi La at the 76th Pao National Day ceremony held on March 13.
"In the history of ethnic revolutions, the Pao people have played a significant role. Likewise, in the ongoing Spring Revolution, their involvement is vital. Our revolution is being carried out through the collaboration of newly emerging revolutionary forces and existing ethnic revolutionary groups, all working together to dismantle the military dictatorship.
While many Pao forces are taking part in this effort, it is also regrettable that some Pao national leaders continue to maintain ties with the terrorist military regime. The deeply religious and honest Pao people are, in a sense, being exploited to prolong the tyranny of the military dictatorship. This is a deeply saddening reality," said the Interim President.
The 76th Pao National Day ceremony was attended by Pao national leaders, revolutionary forces, and officials from the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).

๐๐ 2. CRPH and NUG Send Messages to Commemorate the 76th Pao National Day
March 13
On the occasion of the 76th Pao National Day, the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) expressed its heartfelt wishes for the safety and well-being of the Pao people and all citizens of Myanmar, hoping for their aspirations to be fulfilled.
The CRPH reaffirmed its belief that the Pao people will continue to strengthen cooperation with other revolutionary forces in the fight against military dictatorship and all forms of tyranny, building on mutual understanding and trust.
In its message, the CRPH also honored and paid tribute to Pao national leaders and comrades who sacrificed their lives throughout history in the struggle for democracy.
The message highlighted that the Pao people, who have been residing in present-day Mon State and the Thaton region for approximately 3,000 years (since around 1000 BC), have endured various political adversities throughout history while preserving and advancing their religion, literature, culture, and traditions with unwavering resilience. The National Unity Government (NUG) expressed its deep respect and admiration for this steadfast spirit.
Furthermore, the NUG emphasized that in the ongoing Spring Revolution, the Pao people, alongside other allied ethnic groups, are actively resisting the military dictatorship and all forms of authoritarianism, fulfilling their historical duty in unison with the people.
The message reaffirmed the commitment of Pao national leaders and forces to work together with the NUG toward achieving the shared goals of the Spring Revolution—national equality, self-determination, and the establishment of a new Federal Democratic Union. The NUG extended its best wishes for the success of this endeavor in commemoration of the 76th Pao National Day.

๐๐ 3. NUG’s National Unity Consultative Council Sends Tribute on the 37th Anniversary of Ko Phone Maw and Ko Soe Naing’s Deaths
March 13
The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) released a tribute on the 37th anniversary of the deaths of Ko Phone Maw and Ko Soe Naing, students from the Yangon Institute of Technology (now Yangon Technological University), who were brutally shot and killed by the military led by Ne Win inside the university compound on March 13, 1988.
The NUCC expressed deep sorrow over the countless young people and students who have lost their lives at the hands of successive military regimes, which have brutally suppressed and murdered future generations.
It further stated that the courage and dedication of the young revolutionaries and students who fought against the military dictatorship—resisting its relentless attempts to subjugate the country through armed oppression—remain a vivid and enduring inspiration.
The NUCC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to completely eradicating the military dictatorship and all forms of tyranny. It pledged to build a Federal Democratic Union where democracy prevails, ensuring equality and self-determination for all citizens. ๐๐ 4. ICC Arrest Warrant for Former Philippine President Duterte Sets Precedent for Min Aung Hlaing’s Arrest, Says SAC-M
March 13
The Special Advisory Council for Myanmar (SAC-M) has stated that just as the Philippine government successfully arrested former President Rodrigo Duterte based on an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), the time will soon come for Myanmar’s military leader Min Aung Hlaing to face the same fate.
According to SAC-M, Duterte’s arrest serves as a strong warning to Min Aung Hlaing. In November 2024, ICC prosecutors filed a request for an arrest warrant against Min Aung Hlaing for crimes related to the forced displacement and persecution of the Rohingya people. SAC-M’s latest statement emphasizes this development.
Although the Philippine government withdrew from the ICC in 2019, the decisive action taken against the former president under the ICC’s arrest warrant demonstrates international accountability and responsibility, said SAC-M founder Yanghee Lee.
Another SAC-M founder, Marzuki Darusman, highlighted that Duterte’s arrest was a significant step that showed an influential ASEAN member state’s respect for both the ICC and Interpol. He added that this case reinforces the importance of international accountability. Given this precedent, he stated that Min Aung Hlaing’s arrest is now inevitable.
Meanwhile, SAC-M co-founder Chris Sidoti remarked that Duterte’s arrest offers a glimmer of hope to the people of Myanmar, who have lost faith in the United Nations, international human rights mechanisms, and global justice commitments.
