๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. Airstrike on Let Pan Hla Village in Sintgu Kills 27 Civilians, Including 6 Children, and Injures Over 30
March 15
An airstrike by the military junta on Let Pan Hla Village in Sintgu Township, Mandalay Region, resulted in the deaths of 27 civilians, including six children, while over 30 others sustained injuries, according to a bilingual (Myanmar-English) statement released by MDY PDF.
The attack occurred around 3 PM on March 14, targeting a busy market area in Let Pan Hla Village. The military junta carried out the airstrike without warning, dropping bombs from the air, the statement said.
Among the fatalities were six children, including an infant, while 32 civilians were reported injured. Local residents stated that some of the injured were in critical condition, and the death toll could rise further. Additionally, five houses were destroyed by fire due to the attack.
This was not the first airstrike on Let Pan Hla Village. The MDY PDF reported that the military had conducted a similar air raid on March 4, which resulted in the deaths of two civilians, with several others wounded.
Let Pan Hla is a densely populated village located along the Mandalay-Mogok Highway. Since mid-2024, resistance forces led by MDY-PDF have taken control of Sintgu Township, including Let Pan Hla Village.
Dr. Soe Thurazaw, a leading figure in MDY-PDF, wrote on his social media page that the military junta deliberately bombed the village using a jet fighter, knowing that the area was under resistance control. He also criticized those still supporting the junta, stating that they are complicit in war crimes.
According to MDY-PDF, the junta has escalated airstrikes specifically targeting civilian areas under resistance control, demonstrating a pattern of systematic and increasing aerial attacks.
Sintgu Township has been subjected to at least seven airstrikes since it fell under resistance control, according to military records.
