๐๐ 1. CRPH and NUG Issue Eid al-Fitr Message
March 31
The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) has extended its warmest wishes to all Muslims on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr. In this blessed time, CRPH wishes all Muslim communities peace of mind, good health, and fulfillment.
Muslim families and communities who observed fasting and spiritual devotion throughout the holy month of Ramadan traditionally celebrate Eid al-Fitr with joy, generosity, and communal gatherings involving charity and shared meals. However, due to the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck several regions of Myanmar on March 28, religious structures belonging to various communities have suffered extensive damage.
The earthquake occurred on a Friday, a sacred day for Muslims, while many were gathered for Jumu'ah prayers. As a result, a significant number of worshippers tragically lost their lives, becoming martyrs. On this Eid, their grieving families, relatives, and communities remain in deep sorrow. CRPH expressed its solidarity and shared grief with the Muslim families affected by this tragedy.
The National Unity Government (NUG) also conveyed its profound condolences, recognizing the immense loss suffered by the Muslim community as the earthquake coincided with their congregational prayers. NUG stands in mourning alongside the bereaved families.
On this sacred day of Eid al-Fitr, NUG sends heartfelt prayers for all Muslims in Myanmar, wishing them safety and protection from all harm. With deep sympathy, NUG has issued this statement to express its support and solidarity.
