On April 29, Pa Ka Pha (People’s Defense Forces) units based in Yesagyo, Pauk, and Myaing townships of Pakokku District, Magway Region, issued a joint statement declaring that they would begin collaborative efforts on military matters and provide mutual support based on each other’s needs.

According to sources, commanders of the township-level Pa Ka Pha units across the district recently held an on-the-ground coordination meeting. The aim was to ensure long-term solidarity and cooperation among units operating at the township, zone, battalion, ward, and village levels — whether in military affairs or in addressing mutual operational requirements.

They affirmed a shared commitment to work in unity — politically, militarily, and for regional security — in order to strengthen the revolutionary effort despite facing real and ongoing challenges on the ground.

Heavy fighting continues in Kachin State’s Bhamo, where junta forces from Strategic Command Unit 21 (SAC-21) and Light Infantry Battalion 47 (LIB-47) remain under assault, with reports emerging that over 100 military family members from SAC-21 have surrendered.

The clashes reportedly reignited on April 25 when joint forces including the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) resumed their offensive. They launched coordinated attacks against junta positions stationed at SAC-21, LIB-47, the Combined Office, the Municipal Office, Win Light Hotel, Kan Oo School, Bhamo High School No. 1, and Galaxy KTV. Fighting is described as intense.

Kachin News Group reported that the joint KIA-led forces are now conducting an offensive aimed at fully capturing SAC-21. Battles are said to have reached as far as the central command post of the battalion.

Meanwhile, the junta has been fiercely defending Bhamo using aerial bombardment, drones, and heavy artillery in an attempt to prevent the loss of the town.

Although unverified, reports surfaced on April 29 claiming that more than 100 family members from SAC-21 had surrendered to the KIA and its allied forces. Independent confirmation of this surrender has not yet been established.

The campaign to seize Bhamo began in late December 2024. During the earthquake emergency from April 2 to 22, the KIA coalition forces temporarily paused their offensive, but fighting has now resumed.
